21.12.2005
The GCC construction boom will continue to grow, V. Jayaraman, General Manager, ETA Star Properties claimed at the Fourth GCC Economic Summit. He said: 'The Gulf is experiencing an unprecedented period of economic expansion. We expect the growth to average 6.9 per cent in real terms among the six GCC members in 2005. The GCC real estate sector is booming with considerable inflows coming from the repatriation of funds in to home markets. Governments within the region have also been proactive in diversifying their economies and the region has witnessed a dramatic increase in tourism. The construction spend from entities such as Dubai alone has exceeded $40 billion.'

Cool satellite view, the palm islands look so small from that perspective, but I know they aren't.

I saw on Mega Structures on the Discovery Channel the building of the palm, and it was pretty cool.

Also I made the "offshore projects" section better by adding links to individual projects on the various islands, etc...

Come on lads. How about some posts now

I really doubt it'll be that bright though, it would be blinding if you were looking out the window. What would be the electrical power needed for those, 5 terawatts?

It's 38 floors high. Reasonable I think and not too much, although it is very wide. I know a lot of people hate it but I don't think it's too bad. If it was located anywhere else it would be terrible but it seems to suit the palm jumeirah very well I think.

Wasn't it planned to be rather tall too? Or was that a rumor or old proposal?

SA Boy originally said it was to be 360m or so. Of course that won't happen. The original tower planned there was the pinnacle and that was damn tall too!!
