Your city's skyline: from scrawny to brauny

Every city likes to put its best face forward and come across in a powerful way.

What view gives your city the most bulk and mass...its most overpowering perspective?

Which view makes the city look puny and small, its worse face to the world?

***********

For Chicago, coming in from O'Hare on the Kennedy from the northwest gives the most sweeping view of the Windy City....from the huge, thick cluster of Loop skyscrapers on the right to the more linear towers of North Michigan Avenue.

Nowhere does the skyline seem more like a shaddow of itself that driving inbound from the southwest on the Stevenson Expy. While this view offers the best view of Sears Tower and offers the closest contact of Sears and the Hancok Center, it offers little else and makes Chicago look far smaller than it is.

Perhaps some shots would be nice too...

Relatively Weak:
The view from the islands.

Which is unfortunate because the lake should be an asset and should enhance a skyline. But it is improving with the 20 tower development to the left of the CN Tower.

Moderate: CN Tower view

Overpowering
: 51st Floor of Manulife Centre (This perspective provides the "jackpot" shots)

Boston

Weak - Doesn't seem to have much of any tall towers around the downtown or Back Bay area from this view.

Strong - You can see how dense DT is from here and its a nice shot because some shorter towers appear much taller when they almost block out the towers far behind them. You can also see how far the skyline stretches.
