Moscow - part X - Metro + Petrovka

This is the last thread of my Moscow series. It is divided into two parts. In the first one, we'll take a look at some stations of the famous Moscow metro. In the second one, we'll walk through some picturesque old quarters of the city centre, along the Petrovka Street.

Dinamo station from 1938, near the Dinamo stadium. The entrance hall:

Mayakovskaya station from 1938. As one of the deepest stations of the metro, it hosted a wartime meeting in November 1941, when the Nazis were on the outskirts of Moscow, at which Stalin spoke to the assembled generals and party activist:

The station won the first prize for its design on the World Fair in New York in 1938:

Let us continue this thread on the street level

This is our last walk. It was my last 40 minutes in the city before going to the hotel and the airport. I was in a great hurry, in fact almost running through the streets... and had no possibility to look for the most interesting motives or wait for the most interesting moments. Still, I think, that the pics are worth seeing, cause they show one of the most beautiful parts of Moscow.

We start our walk at the Pushkinskaya Square and walk down the Petrovka street towards Kitay-Gorod and the Kremlin:

We walk along the Boulevard Ring to Petrovka Street. On our way we explore an interesting passage:

Petrovka Street and the Vysokopetrovsky Monastery:

We turn right into Petrovsky Pereulok:

Beautiful buildings along the street:

Looking back at Petrovsky Pereulok and the Vysokopetrovsky Monastery at Petrovka:

We turn left into Bolshaya Dmitrovka. This is some federal building:

We turn left into a pedestrian street called Stoleshnikov Pereulok:

At distance we can see the red-coloured City Council at Tverskaya:

We're back on Petrovka Street. The yellow building on the right side is one of Moscow's Marriott hotels:

Petrovsky Passage, an elegant mall from 1903:

We've come to an interesting and beautiful street called Kuznetsky Most. We take a look of the street in the direction of Tverskaya:

And in the opposite direction:

We walk along Kuznetsky Most:

The street that meanders picturesquely over hills, was one of the most beloved streets among Moscow's poets and writers. It was also a place where aristocracy used to take their afternoon promenades:

We turn right into Neglinnaya Street and take a look at the Pushechnaya Street at our left hand side:

The infamous Lubyanka building can be seen at distance:

Finally, we've reached the Teatralny Proezd and the ornamental gate at Tretyakov's passage (leading to Kitay-Gorod) that we've already seen in two previous threads

Yes, after 10 threads and 645 pictures, this is the END of my Moscow series...

Beautiful series! Hope you'll go to Moscow again some time soon to bring us some more beautiful photos! This thread (Petrovka) part is my favourite because I never went there.

Extraordinary thread, michau! I've never been to Moscow, so it's been amazing to see it in the eyes of such a great photographer! Thank you so much!

This also must be my favorite thread. The Moscow Metro is just ... I'm speechless. The old parts of the city are gorgeous. I really want to see Moscow for myself now!

I think you should make an "archive" thread, just a general overview thread with links to all your threads in this series, etc. I think everyone will agree that it would deserve a sticky right away!

I think that a "Hall of Fame" is a better idea than a "sticky". Too many "stickys" could be irritating. And I'm sure that there are more threads that deserve a place in a Hall of Fame.
