Mong Kok fire roundup
Wednesday, October 26, 2005
Government Press Release

A fire broke out at a construction site at 18 Hoi Fai Road, Mong Kok, at 12.47am today (October 26). The fire was upgraded to a No. 3 alarm at 1.46am, and subsequently to a No.4 alarm fire at 2.59am.

The site has seven blocks of 36-storey residential towers under construction.

A large quantity of construction materials on the top floor and roof level of Tower 1 and 2 were severely damaged by the fire. Debris from upper floors ignited and damaged scaffolding and nylon safety nets erected on the external wall on various levels of Tower 1, 2, 3 and 5.

Firemen deployed eights jets and mobilised two breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.

The fire was put out at 9.02am.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The Fire Services Department believed that the cause of the fire was not suspicious.

LOL, good job. Most construction projects have fires, but this one looks a bit larger than what I usually see.

Living in high-rise building like this is a big risk that you might be burnt to die.

This was a major fire - a 4 alarm, and it burned for 8 hours. However, it is just a construction site and the damage wouldn't take long to fix. Local news reports peg the delay at several days.

The fire was reported on the first of 7 blocks' 36th floor rooftop at around 12:47am. At 2:59am, the fire department raised it to a 4 alarm fire.

The One Silversea development will have 7 towers of up to 46 floors. The per square foot price is HK$7000 - HK$20,000, with expected occupancy next year.

Why? Because it would be part of the Symphony of Light super grand FIRE finale. Tourist will be impressed.

hk tourism association should consider adding fire effects on some buildings as well in addition to laser/spotlight/ led lighting etc.
