[Brno] New Airport Terminal

Due to immense increase of traffic throughout Czech Republic, the country's airports are going through extensive upgrade programs.

One of these projects is Brno new terminal

The building works began on the 1st of September and they should conclude on the 30th June 2006. The investment of 237 million Czech crowns (about 10 million USD) will be covered by the Region of Southern Moravia, with about 20% of the sum coming from the E.U.

During the first eight months of this year the airport has handled over 213 000 passengers, an increase of over 72% over last year. Apart from charter routes, the airport is served by Ryanair (London) and Cirrus (Munich).

I love the look of it Woohoo

And since they are only handling a little over 200 000 passengers in the first 8 months, I don't think they need a huge terminal addition. This will fit quite nicely.

Nice to see Brno development. After construction a new control tower this is another good news for Brno airport development.
The design is maybe a bit futuristic, but I rather like it.

^ Brno is near other big airports in central Europe so there is not so big demand.
