HONG KONG [16] Repulse Bay - Beachside Living

Accompanying Cantopop Music :

Repulse Bay is a wealthy residential area overlooking a popular beach on the south side of Hong Kong Island. While there aren't that many skyscrapers, this district is only 20 minutes from downtown Hong Kong. This is the difference a set of blocking mountains makes.

1. The newest architectural highlight of this district is this structure - 129 Repulse Bay, which is being converted into service apartments :

5. I find it quite difficult to show the curvatures of this building without the context of its surroundings. Somehow, zooming in doesn't really help at all.

11. Repulse Bay is a very popular beach for both locals and tourists.

16. Many rich people live in these lower density buildings around the bay and along the hillsides.

19. There are other new residences in Repulse Bay, such as this one - Grosvenor Place :

21. Watch the sunset :

27. The skyline - this is another part of Hong Kong that has changed a lot over the past few years.

this area looks nice. the beach is not like any beach i've seen here though. trees on the beach? a clock in the middle of nowhere? sand that looks more like dirt? definitely a beach that i wouldn't have expected.

hong kong looks like a very nice place. your threads are proving that it's not just super-tall skysrapers and downtown.

The sand is extremely clean and soft - a lot cleaner than the one in Ocean City, NJ. I couldn't even find a spec of garbage anywhere.

The beach is great. I've been there many times. It's one of those "magical areas".

There is a coin toss thing in there where you can toss a coin into a well and see where it lands and supposedly it will give you good luck and/or fortune.

There's also the land link which you can only cross with low tide otherwise it is submerged.

Repulse Bay is really special.

I've always liked Repulse Bay. Even though it's got quite a few highrises, it doesn't feel like you're in HK.

Nothing beats artificial sand!

Reminds me of Punta del Este--- the most aristocratic neighbourhood in South America.

There are extravagant mansions along the upper part of Repulse Bay Road, as well as along Headland road, both approx. 5 min. drive from the beach.
