Out the kindness of your hearts could you please help me answer a really good friend of mines question.
He's German and apparently doing something on England for university. I belive he might be a spy for the German national football coach. Anyhoo...to quote my friend.... "I need informations about the team, where they are good and bad. The exspectations of the fans, the stars and the way they like to play." Unfortunately, I'm not very good all all this sort of stuff. I know the 'exspectations' But as for the stars and where they are good and where they are bad, and where they like to play...i'm stumped. |

One thing guaranteed is that expectations are always greater than reality would suggest. Look at our record, since we started competing in international competitions in the post war era we have competed in 14 world cups, winning only one and that was on home soil which is always a big advantage. Apart from that we've reached one semi final in 1990 and a few quarter finals.
In the European Championships it's even worse, two semis (one with home advantage), one quarter final, knocked out in the first round four times, didn't qualify another four times. Despite these mediocre records, English football fans still think we should be winning every tournament we enter

I belive thinking were going to win every tournament is better than believing we're going to get knocked out first round.
I'm on a liverpool FC forum, and they do nothing but mope about and go on about how we're going to lose the next match...I hate it. |

I think there is a difference in "HOPING we are GOING to win" and "EXPECTING that we SHOULD win".... it seems the former is positive optimism where the latter sounds more similar to some of the negative hoping associated with fan expectations...

I agree. I think the hype surrounding England does more harm than good to the team.

Sven bendz over ze Beekam who bends over zee Rio and ze make love. They're a shower of shite who appeal predominantly to the southern media and cunts with 'Pussy Hunter' tattoos across their beer guts. On an England match day they come around 32nd in my list of priorities.

the weak points of the team;
Rio Ferdinand; utter shite, thinks he's Brazilian. He's not. Thinks he's a good footballer. He's not. Joe Cole/Left Wing; Cole is the king of deflections so make sure he doesn't shoot from outside the box because chances are, even if the shot is well off target, he'll fluke a goal. One trick pony. Easily defended against. Shithouse. Center Midfield; Many believe this is Englands strong point however Lampard and Gerrard cancel each other out. Neither wants to play the holding midfield role. Lampards a cunt. David Beckham; Public Enemy once sang 'Don't Believe the Hype', they could have easily been singing about Englands "Heroic" captain. The man had to be physically removed from Jamie Carraghers back pocket after every game they came up against eachother. Just close him down, give him no space and he's toatally ineffective. Kick him and wind him up and he'll chase you down and give away free kick, doesn't take much for him to get booked. Sven; Good man, likes to shag. Doesn't give a flying fuck about England. David James; Clown. Wayne Rooney; Got a bit of a temper. Wind him up...go on, see what happens. Fans; Boo their own players. Like a bit of a scrap. Wind them up, introduce to a few Turkish fans and they might get England kicked out without a ball being kicked. Englands strong points; Wayne Rooney; Great player. Owen; Will score goals anyway, anyhow, anywhere. Robinson; Solid keeper Gerrard and/or Lampard; Will score goals from midfield. Both quality players. John Terry; Quality defender. |

Joe Cole is not easily defended agaisnt even on the left and has more tricks than he knows what to do with. David Beckham has limitations but is rarely "totally ineffective" and when was the last time he played againt carrhager?
Robinson is good and our best keeper but in a team full of world class players he's hardly one of its strengths. Id say our stengths are that we have 9 world class players in the first 11 one of whom is the awesome rooney, guys like SWP and Defoe on the bench who can make a difference and a ludricously long list of excellent centre backs. Woodgate is probably now only 6th choice even if back to full fitness and form. Our weakness are I think in rough order of importance: Inability to change gear when needed (possibly linked to a manager without passion) No holding midfiled player Lack of options up front- no strikers who are both tall and can shoot, no muscle to replace Rooney when he's suspended. Right back - not exactly a weakness as neither neville nor young are a liability but both are pedestrian and its the only out field postion that we have no exceptional players. A manager who is sleeping with Owen Hargreaves. No left footed midfielders. Overall I think we have an excellent team and ill be dissapointed if we lose to anyboidy but Brazil. |

also, you have to worry about David Beckham smearing his pretty face or dirtying up his beautiful hair.
