I don't understand why it's parked out there... don't they have a gate for A380s at BCN? Do they really plan on using buses for an A380?

Are you joking?
I work at BCN Airport and, in Terminal 1, there are several gates and rooms in 2 differents floors for the A380!!

I was pretty sure that they must have gates for the A380, but I was referring to the picture in post #361 above. (But now that I look again I'm not sure if in that pic it's parked - with stairs - or being towed...)

Anyway, it's nice to see a regular A380 service at BCN. (Although personally I think the bird is plain ugly... And as passenger I hate it, in economy class at least. Don't shoot me... )

This year BCN El Prat airport will reach and maybe surpass 35 milion passegers! It can be the 29th in the world and the 7th in Europe!
Does anyone know why aircraft using Terminal 1 and taking off from runway 25L cannot cut across runway 25R? They have to go around the 07L end making for a long taxiing of about 6 km. This is a lot of burning fuel for mostly low-cost airlines.

The airplanes cannot cross runway 25R because that is the main runway for landing! It is the longest runway at BCN Airport, with 3600 metres.

Do you mean Terminal 2 (the older one)? Terminal 1 sits between runways.

It has been like that since 25L/07R was constructed, as far as I remember. And I have always found it a nice solution that simplifies taxiing. (I assume that they don't need clearance to cross "behind" 25R?).

I stand corrected, I meant Terminal 2 (formerly A, B, C).

I figured this was the reason. Why is it a problem to cross an active runway at BCN? It is not for instance at CDG. Landing is usually on the outer runway and aircraft cross the inner (take-off) runway to reach the terminals.

Me llama poderosa mente la atención como este aeropuerto esta sub utilizado, con un máximo de 10 aviones conectado a las dos terminales en las mayoria de las fotos publicadas

I work at this airport and I can assure you is not "underutilized". At peak hours all jetbridges of the new Terminal 1 are being used!

El Prat may not be at its maximum capacity (getting there..) but they're definitely not underutilised. Frequented this airport myself, I can say it's getting busier and busier as more international destinations will be connected to this airport.

Slightly off-topic, but...
Qatar Airways' 777 adorned with FC Barcelona emblem landed in El Prat for the first time:

It is the 2nd time that BCN gets this award! 1st time was in 2010.

Barcelona El Prat is one of my favourites airports, very clean, modern and versatile. Also will be great when will be under terminal train station of high-speed trains!
