Way off the pace

Here we are arguing over which is taller Q1 or Eureka but what we should be arguing is when a HUGE building will be built in Oz. Sydney, Melbourne possibly even Brisbane or Gold Coast could host a 400m + tower in thier skylines. Which one do you think it will be.

it wont be sydney, probably not brisbane.... could be gold coast or melbourne... in my opinoin....

sydney have a parisian type policy restricting building heiight... i mean sydney's a beautiful city, no one wants it covered up with mega towers...

Till recently I would have said not Brisbane, but the attitude has really changed there with the new masterplan and there are small tallies planned like Vision and possibility of even taller ones.

Other than that, yeah Gold Coast and Melbourne, the age old rivarly Lol:P Who knows, maybe Q2

Plus Brisbane really doesn't have many potential sites for a big tower left, so someone has to get some guts and proposed something huge.

I expect Melbourne or Gold Coast to. For the Gold Coast perhaps Q2, in Melbourne the Old Power station site and The Age site. At least one of those two will (or should) house a biggie.

Id say melbourne.
Sydney will not because of height limit due to the way the line up is set up, with the tower and the harbour. Melbourne is less limited due to its geographical surroundings - it can really do what it wants. Gold Coast doesnt have the cojones, nor does Brisbane.

the question is when will sydney or melb get another building over 200m? forget 300m or 400m.
i think Australia will need to get more 300m bldgs before we consider a 400m project. definatley next construction cycle which is 4-5 years away we will see a couple of 200m+ scrapers.but not sure about another 300m giant.?

I would rather a building like 126 Phillip Street rather than some 300 meter monstrosity purely built for height.

well, from what i observe melbourne has ALWAYS favoured practicality.... the planners and architects and economists in charge there know the costs of an unnecessary building...

then you got grollo..... he's about our only chance for a bigger than eureka building.... (oh and i think we will have another building cycle sooner than you think it's all economics... )

Predicting when another biggie will go up is like finding a needle in haystack, not sure why though. It might not happen tomorrow and it might not happen next week but it will happen. But then again it may happen next week.

Gold Coast - a small city where big dreams seem to come true.

Either that or everyone there has "little man syndrome". Never seen a city with so many Ferrari's, Porsche's, Mercedes's, BMW's, Lamborghini's, Hummer's, Aston Martin's, Bentley's, Rolls Royce's - gotta be little man syndrome

(small city trying to prove itself worthy)
