Skyline==LOMO is a moron! How rude to say that about any country. Just because 1 percent of the country is boycotting and rioting does not mean the rest are. He is making all non-Muslims look bad. Just ignore him please. Sorry for his ignorance!

HM issues order to appoint first Bahraini female judge

Manama, June 6: HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued an order, appointing Mona Jassim Mohammed Al Kuwari as the first ever Bahraini female judge to serve in the High Civil Court.

In statements to Bahrain Television, Al Kuwari extended sincere regards and thanks to HM the King for his invaluable trust, regarding her appointment as the first Bahraini female judge, a source of honor and pride not only for her but also for all Bahraini women, wishing God Almighty to help her be up to the royal trust. She underscored HM the King's full trust in the capacities of Bahraini women in assuming judicial duties. She added that HM's 2002 decree which established the Public Prosecution reinforced women's position in this institution, reflecting HM's keenness on ensuring equality between men and women and making it an integral part of the royal reform Project. Al Kuwari asserted that Bahraini society is a forerunner in various fields and has a long history of man and woman working side by side in all fields, referring to the Bahraini women's proven ability to excel in all fields and cooperate effectively with men.
if i’m not mistaken it’s the first female judge in the GCC.

Bahrain Government Says First Woman Judge Appointed

MANAMA (AP)--Bahrain has appointed its first woman judge, the government announced Tuesday.

The woman, Mona Al Kawari, is believed to be one of the first female judges in the entire Gulf region. She was appointed by order of the tiny Gulf kingdom's ruler, Sheik Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Bahrain, a pro-Western island nation that hosts the base of the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet, has a population of about 700,000 people. It has two women ministers in the government at the moment, plus six women members of an appointed advisory council.

A total of 21 women also are preparing to run for parliament in elections due later this year, but they face a tough fight in a conservative society that has only recently revived its democratic process.

The country has a Sunni Muslim-dominated government, but its Shiite majority has grown restive during the past few years, mounting frequent anti-government protests.

Many believe the women candidates will face an uphill battle against Islamic party supporters.
