Most people seem disapointed, i dont know what all of you had expected? But hey, I wouldnt mind having a flat in that tower! Anyone knows how much of it will be residential and how much of it will be hotel?

At least its better then a pencil-tower, in my opinion...

hideous, truly hideous. thankfully there will be a couple of horizontal breaks in the facade according to the renders....but then the renders also showed the vertical strip in the centre covered in glass.

dear oh dear

Exactly. Not too much of a problem, HK has lots of boring highrises, but this one should be a highlight imo, given it's location. Maybe the top will make it a little more exiting...

Its not a million miles away from what the finished article will look like though. I'm really disappointed with some of the new high rises coming through on Kowloon side, this building is pretty crap and theres the fairly hideous array of towers at Union Square, the exceptions being Harbourside and the U/C US6 and US7. However it is simply not good enough to have these gems swamped and surrounded by huge buildings of mediocre, monotonous architecture. Hong Kong Island has a fabulous skyline, perhaps the best in the world and deservedly so. However the emerging skyline across the harbour is shaping up to be its poor relation in every sense and the proliferation of towers such as Hanoi can only damage this further.

I was hoping for a better facade. Really hope the top makes it look a little bit better. Also i want to see how it looks at night.

Kowloon is best viewed from up-close, rather than from afar, which is quite different from HK Island. From the other side of the harbour, Kowloon looks quite empty, but if you look out from Langham Place or one of the taller buildings in the heart of Kowloon, then you'll see a huge urban expanse with minimal blockage.

How the hell does a 5* hotel put up with a facade like that?

Standards at the Hyatt must've slipped horrendously the past few years...

too flat, it could have been better if those horizontal bands had reflected cladding and projected a bit out, while the glass being a little more tinted...

We'd all joked about the IFC being a ***** but that's just ridiculous!
