Those lowrise buildings in the foreground are probably close to 40 years old. Personally, I like this look of a huge skyscraper wall like the Tung Chung crescent. Eventually, this tower will probably be blocked or covered up in someway as Kowloon is ripe for development / redevelopment.

Exactly. Just wait 8-10 years and I bet it will be barely visible from the HK Island side anymore.

just cover it up with scaffolding ...
it would look better that way ...

the outside looks just like the hyatt hotel which is being demolished at the moment ...
its just sarcastic that it is gonna be a park hyatt ...

No I dont think there is any special reason, I know that area has a lot of streetnames after other cities, Canton Road, Peking Road etc.... Or am i wrong? Please correct me if anyone knows better...

There are a couple of streets named after Vietnamese cities in Hong Kong. They did it on purpose. I remember reading an explanation at hk-place.com
