hey guys, wats the annual passenger capacity of this terminal?

i was wondering, what is the largest capacity airport in that world being constructed or planned?

right now o hare has an annual capacity of 88 million per annum.

but, the current dubai airport is being expanded to 60 million per annum, and, the new dubai airport is going to be around 120 million passengers per annum!!!

so what are the capacities of future chinese airports, and, whats going to be the biggest airport in the world in terms of capacity, lets say by 2020?

Dubai World Central International Airport will be the largest airport in actual/real physical size or so their impressive and ambitious masterplan suggests.

Full Capacity (as planned):
- 150 million air passengers annually
- 12 million tonnes of cargo/freight annually

Support Facilities include:
- Parking Slots/Space for 100,000 vehicles throughout the entire complex [Dubai World Central]

But I believe the airport's planned full-extent/size might not be fully built-out even beyond the year 2020 (think: even 2050). The project is simply too ambitious. Worse, I don't see this project achieving its ultimate extent EVER. This is because 'hubbing' won't be as popular as it is now since all newly manufactured aircraft (even the narrow-bodied ones) (i.e., B787 Dreamliner and A350) have long-ranges and are fuel-efficient. This makes non-stop travel an ever more viable option. Even the 'Kangaroo-route' (Australia/New Zealnd - Europe) would most probably by-pass Dubai thereby limiting the amount of air traffic into and out of Dubai.

And, since the entire masterplan for the airport is too ambitious. If all of the buildings would be built-out by 2020, Dubai's real estate industry/market might collapse or pop. I mean 850 towers!? It's wack! It's overkill-supply!

Wow, I never even thought about how newer planes would have fewer stopovers. But there are two things wrong with the newer aircraft. One, it is actually more economical for the airline to stopover since they can get more passengers by stopping more. Two, a lot of ppl would suffer from nonstop flights-they're just so painful and boring!

Thank you celestar0!

It is truly amazing how quickly this project has gone from drawing board to reality.

Anybody have any clue what type of train they're gonna use for this airport? I hope they don't use the typical metro type trains, I think CRH1 would be nice.

According to the news, the construction of T3 should be basically completed in Oct '07. If everything goes smoothly it will be operational around Chinese New Year (early-Feb) of '08.

Does anyone hv any updates on the incorrectly translated signs w/i the terminal? Like that map of the terminal which had a legend with names like "Loose Furniture".

The translations of signs should eventually be alright because of this (at least):

I could make a living out of correcting English on signs, menus, and other printed things in China.

Seriously... I would do that if someone over there hired me. PM me if you would like a resume.
