Anyway, I can't wait to visit this airport. Looks like American Airlines will fly there in 2009 so I can't wait.

I read in Architectural Record today that whereas the new Heathrow terminal took 20 years to build, from inception to completion, Norman Foster established a Bejing office in ten days, and the Bejing terminal was completed four years later.

Question: I also read that 100,000 dwellers were displaced in order to build the airport. May I assume that provisions were made to relocate all these people ?

Thanks.

I suppose you could ... but it would be a false assumption on your part.

Now then, are you interested in answering a sincere question, or should I look to someone else who's less thin-skinned ?

I don't think he's here to troll, I have read a number of his posts, he's just asking a genuine question

My guess is that they were put up in Commieblocks in the suburbs miles from anywhere. That's where all the residents of Hutongs got.

So far they're genuinely willing to move for th good of the Olympics. But a few years of economic hardship could change all that.

I doubt its 100,000, but 10,000 wouldn't be unreasonable. The population density of the area around the airport isn't that high, so 100,000 would be a bit much, maybe its 100,000 for all of Beijing Olympics projects (they built 2 new expressways and a metro line in this airport project also, it is very impressive). Beijing residents are compensated well, it's in the other cities that people are complaining about compensation.

Of course they are relocated. This is China. They can built nice housing complexes in for 100,000 people in a jiffy.

Well, they always exaggerate the numbers.Example: If its 10,000 they say 10 millions died of hunger.
