1 UTAMA UPDATES:

Some changes I noticed:

1. Chicago Rib House will replace Jack's Place
2. T.M.Lewin will replace Liz Claiborne, the other store at The Curve
3. The only standalone FCUK is now closed for good
4. New kiosk called GUESS Watches
5. Many many many new restaurants such as PUTIEN from Singapore and WATAMI from Japan

Patchay, how's the shops renovation going? is it worth dropping by 1U now?

1Utama is really really busy now especially on weekends....

Lotsa stores that you see at TheGardens and MidValley have opened here such as Hokkaido Ichiba, Oyster King (i know the owner), Ko Hwang, I Love YOO, Ireland Potato (just approved), etc... tea chains like Chatime and ComeBuy have opened, with future ones could be ShareTea and GongCha.

Renovation is section by section, the TGV/Isetan is not completed yet... and you can see 1Utama is expanding UPWARDS (presumably the TGV cinema)

All the stores' renovation are pretty good.. from UNIQLO to A-MATERIAL to BRANDS OUTLET to CHATIME to the new BEST DENKI (new wing) and ESPRIT store are attracting the crowd. New concept stores for PUMA, LEVI'S, CANDYLICIOUS opening soon...

Also check out the "Ocean-Minded by Crocs" first store and of coz JUSCO, the most popular store in 1U besides GSC. This JUSCO has the first mini DAISO at the lower floors.. so 2 DAISO in 1U.

Also drop by at the new Food Republic at the link area with New Wing.

Oh FCUK moved opposite to a new location, a smaller store... expect some surprises when someone takes over their previous location....

Well, now that the FCUK lot is empty, I'm hoping for something upmarket to open at this large space... Something like, say, Burberry, Emporio Armani (there's already an A|X in 1U), Tod's, or even Christian Dior?

Although I'm also wondering what type of high-end boutique will be opening within Isetan a well... The one in KLCC has Dior, Ralph Lauren, and a couple of other nice brands as well...

And TGV seems to be doing really massive renovation, they have taken up the portion of 1U's rooftop car park (at Level 5) and there is now a large steel structure on top. There will be no more driveway to the New Wing from the older one and instead, two large cinema complexes will be facing each other! Good for us cinema-goers, with two mega cineplexes available to choose from...

I reckon it's next to Se'terra, the new launch in that area - which Glomac says part of Bandar Utama.

Agree with you there mate, reminds me of a more upmarket The Store, with those plain-looking fluorescent lights!

I'm waiting for the opening of Isetan though, to provide an alternative for upper-level departmental store shopping in addition to Parkson...

TANGS opening soon in 1Utama as reported in StarMetro today.

It will join a list of major tenants at 1U including Jusco (Aeon Co.), Parkson, Isetan, Daiso, Uniqlo, Best Denki, Cold Storage, Food Republic, MPH, Popular Bookstore, Toys R' Us, Golden Screen Cinemas, TGV (plus an IMAX screen).

BUCC will also look into redeveloping TV3 site and the vacant land opposite it.

It will be launched this weekend (by invitation) with a rendering that include 2 towers (no not Tropicana Office Towers)!!!

Watch out for the new rendering.

Well, JUSCO is not meant to be a high-end supermarket + department store. It is in fact a contemporary one cater to the majority middle market. One may not be very impressed with the design but it attracts the most crowd with long queues at the supermarket checkouts on weekends & a substantial crowd at the department store.

And if BUCC is redeveloping TV3 since I heard TV3 is moving out, then the new development should be linked to 1 Utama mall & the One World Hotel and integrate it with the MRT station to provide convenience to commuters!

Wow, now Tangs is coming in to 1Utama, that's really good news... Looks like this presently quiet area on the 2nd and 3rd levels (First & Second Floor) will be brought back to life when they open doors soon!

And wait a minute, did patchay say that TGV 1U will come with an IMAX screen? I thought it will only be at the the Sunway multiplex, or did they just announce the second location recently (and I missed the news )?

Yep, why not? If there is already a bus hub at the New Wing, 1U management should seriously look at full integration with the MRT line (together with taxis and limos), which is just at their doorstep anyway... There is no need to dig deep, since the MRT is elevated, and a bridge can be built to provide the connection between mall and station!
