Ottawa: Canada's Capital in the Fall

I was able to squeeze out a quick trip to my nation's capital since the Ottawa crew was organizing a SSP meet. I did come to Ottawa in 1999 to check out Carleton university, and I was really not impressed. But thanks to the amazing tour by Ken and Niwell (SSP forumers), my view of this city is completely different and I have fallen in love with it. While it may not have the grand in your face monuments like you see in Washington or huge public areas squares like in Mexico City...Ottawa does things in a very classy, conservative and elegant manner....the perfect city to represent Canada (with plenty of commie blocks to boot).

Here's one of our Ottawa reps, Nick (Niwell)...he's good people:

An old fashioned shoot-off:

Biggest BB sign ever:

I usually don't post blurry pics like this, but this one was too funny not to post....nice pumpkins honey:

They ain't impressed:

How can anyone hate a country that has a beaver on its most important building:

Yes, we even have war memorials....yeah, that's right:

Scroll ------>:

So after losing my $1200 watch, my $100 camera battery and getting a $150 speeding ticket, the sun sets on another photo tour...I hope you enjoyed:

Holy shit man those are the most professional photos that I have ever seen on this forum. You have a talent for sure. What camera did you use?

BTW, I liked Ottawa more than Washington D.C.

I have a uni bandwidth cap... but when there's a photothread by Lucky24, I say screw it. These are totally magazine quality shots. Lucky24, you make every city that you grace your presense with look like the best city in the world. The colours are simply outstanding.

I've got to get myself a Lumix.

Thanks a lot guys, i'm glad you liked em. Skybean, I think my time with the lumix is almost up as I think I may enter the DSLR zone fairly soon. As much as I like the lumix (probably the bets non-DSLR cam), I know that my camera is limiting my creativity and I really need to upgrade to something that can perform crystal clear shots....not that i'm not pleased with these pics, I just think I can do a lot better given better equipment.

Once again, thanks a lot guys.

Great city, amazing shots. Good job! That fourth pic (looking straight up the building) is spectacular.

Great pics Shaun. Makes me miss Ottawa. You captured a lot of where I worked, lived, and played. That spider in front of the National Gallery and Notre Dame Cathedral was in the Tate Modern gallery last year!

Nice. I went to Ottawa in the summer. You should enter some in the UPC. You would be a nominee for sure

^Frickin' cold. One morning in January, I walked to work stupidly without a hat or anything covering my ears. Needless to say, after 15 or so minutes, I got frostbite. Last winter, over Christmas, I went, and with the windchill factored in, it reached -46ºc.

Holy shit, these are quite possibly some of the best pics I've seen on this forum!!Amazing!

You really managed to portray what makes out country so amazing. It is in our nation's capital that we as a people best express ourselves, you seem to have captured every bit of it.

These pictures alone should make every Canadian proud to be a part of the great project that Canada is.

These pictures make me kind of sad since Ottawa will be my hometown for only another month.
