Thanks; the actual guidance plus a ZIP containing *.EPS etc. is available here:

http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/economicreco...gnguidance.htm

I have been seeing variants of this sign appearing in construction plans sets for projects funded by the ARRA, but by no means all of them. The FHWA guidance mentions that Obama has given a commitment that ARRA-funded projects will be explicitly identified as such, but only "strongly encourages" states to use the ARRA signs.

Construction project funding signs are a graceful heirloom of the age of first Interstate construction which has been allowed to lapse in many states.

Are you sarcastic? Cause If I recall, you weren't his greatest fan a year ago, when he beat your candidate (Clinton) in the primaries.

Absolutely not! And I was not his fan at all. But today I think that so far he is doing great and he exceeded my expectations. I have to say I am really impressed and surprised with his work. I should have know better before of course. But better later than never.

Obama is as dumb as dog shit. I haven't seen any progress made under his administration. Maybe he's paying off his contributors in New York on Wall Street, but the rest of country continues to suffer under his ignorance.

I don't want to start Obama bashing here, but I have to just remind you - this whole mess that he inherited is not of his making so maybe we should give him a chance to do something about it and then judge?

We had those 35 years ago... They've proven to greatly reduce traffic jam accidents, and can also ease traffic behind a congestion spot since traffic doesn't hit stationary traffic at 60 mph anymore.

You need a GPS here just to navigate through all the lanes

That concrete paving is really garish.

I like the stack interchanges there, but Houston's highways are not aesthetically pleasing at all.

Texas is not known for its aesthetics.

I don't think I've ever seen good-looking concrete on any U.S. highway. I don't know why that is. Is it the way they're textured? I know in some areas they use a technique called carpet-dragging to create a rough surface in the concrete. That almost never turns out aesthetically right...

Well, I wouldn't say they're not putting any effort in aesthetics, look at this:

Those look like something straight out of Stalinist Russia!

They're not doing bad, but it looks so artificial. I don't know how or why, but compared to the Autobahn, these all look so lifeless...

Hey Houston, how about some commuter rail instead of building 16 lane concrete monstrosities?

They considered that when widening the Katy Freeway, but there wasn't demand for it...
