Thanks for the kudos - sorry about the quality of some of them but when you're shooting out a windshield, you get some loss of sharpness and detail.

Agreed many more.

I took a ride south to the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area over the past Memorial Day weekend, going south by way of the Florida Turnpike (via Interstate 4 from Tampa to Orlando) and coming back north by way of Interstate 75 including Alligator Alley. Every variable message sign I passed had basically the same no drinking and driving message: Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over.

And to reinforce the concept even further, a heavy presence of Florida Highway Patrol troopers everywhere on all major Florida highways including the Florida Turnpike.

I-74, North Carolina

A missing link of Interstate 74 near Randleman will soon (maybe even today or tomorrow) open to traffic in Randolph County.

69E is 69 East
69C might be 69 Central, like ttownfeen says above.

For the lack of a better place to put this:

Wisconsin has a new tool for finding the AADT (traffic counts) of state maintained (incl. Interstates) and other roads, based on Google maps:

https://trust.dot.state.wi.us/roadrunner/

There is also an address search which is very useful.

New sections of interstate designated (I-2, I-69C, I-69E, I-369 - Texas)

(This expands on Chris' post above)

Sections of US 77, 83 and 281 in the Brownsville, McAllen and Pharr, TX area, northward to Raymondville and Edinburg, TX have been approved for signing as I-2, I-69C and I-69E and a section of US 59 in Texarkana, TX has been approved for signing as I-369, a total of about 187 km. Signs should be up within the next one to two months.

See:
http://www.i69texasalliance.com/News...30.13RGV1.html

and
http://www.kveo.com/news/interstate-...-grande-valley

Also, a total of about 101 km of US 59 (the Eastex and Southwest Freeways) in the Houston, TX area were signed as I-69 over the past year or so. There is still a 17 km unsigned gap in I-69 between those two freeways in the downtown Houston area.

Any idea why 59 inside 610 isn't designated as Interstate? That portion of freeway is in equal near-interstate standard condition as the other interstates inside the Loop (10 and 45).

TxDOT has a few minor details to get worked out yet before AASHTO will give their assent on signing it.

There was some talk earlier about routing I-69 across one of Houston's outer beltways (like Beltway 8 or even the Grand Parkway / SH 99). Luckily they decided to route it across US 59 through downtown.

These new interstate designations in the Valley is pretty exciting. An entirely new Interstate within Texas! I've driven the whole length of that freeway before but I want to drive it again now as IH 2!

I wonder if it's going to get any other changes other than Interstate 2 signs.

New section of Interstate open

NCDOT (the North Carolina Department of Transportation) has opened the final 13 km segment of I-74 (US 311 bypass) between High Point, NC and I-73 in northern Randolph County, North Carolina. This completes the I-74 corridor freeway between I-73 and I-77, although parts northwest of Winston-Salem are still not up to standard and are not yet marked as such.
