Nope... the roads are all very long and pass through very large cities.

It's funny though since if you think of... especially I-80 through PA, the road I think you can drive 300 km/h and still feel slow

I-5 Santa Clarita, CA

Ribbon-cutting ceremony held for freeway project

Caltrans officials and elected officials on Tuesday held a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of a $67 million project intended to reduce congestion and enhance safety on the 5 Freeway running through Santa Clarita.

The project extended the southbound truck lanes and added mixed-flow lanes in both directions of the heavily traveled travel corridor.
Full report: http://www.dailynews.com/general-new...reeway-project

The freeway has been widened across 3.7 miles from eight to ten lanes (6 lanes southbound it seems). From Lyons Avenue in Santa Clarita to the SR-14 interchange.

I-95 Express Lanes, Virginia

Governor McAuliffe Announces 95 Express Lanes Open December 14

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today that the 95 Express Lanes on I-95 in Northern Virginia are opening early and on budget. The new lanes will open on December 14 to drivers, who have an opportunity to enjoy them for free until tolling commences on December 29.

The 95 Express Lanes Project converted the existing high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes to high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes. The 95 Express Lanes will operate from I-95 near Garrisonville Road in Stafford County to the vicinity of Edsall Road on I-395 in Fairfax County (approximately 29 miles).

Carpoolers and vehicles with three or more people ride the express lanes for free, while vehicles with one or two people pay a variable toll to ride the Express Lanes. All travelers can continue to travel the regular lanes for free. Between Dec. 14 and Dec. 29, existing rules will remain in effect during rush hours requiring three or more occupants for a vehicle to use the express lanes for free.

The HOV connection between I-405 and CA-22 is open. It was open back at Thanksgiving when I drove down I-405. They're still working on the HOV connection between I-405 and I-605 at the other end of the project.

I-95 Express Lanes, Virginia

The I-95 Express Lanes in Northern Virginia open to traffic today. It is a 28 mile (45 kilometer) reversible facility, with 2 lanes from Garrisonville Road to Prince William Parkway and 3 lanes from there to the Springfield Interchange with I-495. This is the longest reversible facility in the world as far as I know.

Tolling is dynamic and based on current traffic flow. It can be as high as $ 0.80 per mile during peak hour. Theoretically a person using the entire length of the express lanes on a daily basis during the most expensive period could have to pay over $ 800 per month to use it.

Tolling is broken up into several segments. Once you enter the express lanes with the toll rate shown, that will be the rate you'll pay, even if tolls go up after that. However, that toll rate is only to the farthest interchange shown, not for the entire 28 mile length. Drivers will have to make another choice further down the road to continue on the express lanes, or switch to the general purpose lanes if they find the toll rates too high.

I-95, Florida

Upgraded I-95 is Complete

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Lane Construction are announcing the completion of the Interstate 95 widening project from the Brevard County line to south Malabar Road (SR 514).

The nearly 12.5 mile project began January 2012. It expands I-95 from four lanes, to six lanes. The project included replacing the Fellsmere Bridge and C54 Canal Bridge, as well as widening the Solite Canal Bridge. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) upgrades will assist with traffic monitoring and management. Underground drainage and new guardrails are also added. The cost is approximately $51.7 million.

Currently, more than 35,000 vehicles travel this roadway daily. These new improvements are expected to address the anticipated growth in traffic surrounding the I-95 corridor in south Brevard County.

I-485, Charlotte, NC

New Lanes Opening On I-485 In South Charlotte

Motorists using the outer loop of I-485 between I-77 and Rea Road in Charlotte will have access to the entire new third lane in time for the Thursday evening commute. Crews have been clearing the new lane since Thursday morning. The new third lane on the inner loop of I-485 from Rea Road to I-77 is on track to be fully available Saturday morning, weather permitting.

The new lanes provide relief to one of North Carolina’s most congested roadways, serving over 115,000 vehicles per day.

The N.C. Department of Transportation originally estimated that the 9.2-mile I-485 widening project would be completed in November 2016. Construction of the $83.3 million project began in April 2013. “We’re pleased that these new lanes are available to motorists 23 months ahead of NCDOT’s expectations,” said Division Engineer Louis Mitchell.

I-95 Express Lanes, Virginia

A video of the I-95 Express Lanes in Northern Virginia. This could well be the longest reversible freeway in the world, it stretches 37 miles (60 kilometers) from Garrisonville to the Potomac.

[grumpy old man mode on] Oh, who can keep track any more. Texas is as bad as North Carolina. I used to know area codes too, but they're out of hand. [grumpy old man mode off*]

Ahem. I feel better now.

I would number it I-169E . This would leave I-169 free to be used North of Victoria...

I-2 extension, surely, freeing up I-169E for one of the many other spurs they will blatantly have between Mexico and Victoria!
