Are you referring to the cause of the Norwalk hold-ups? Could you please give more detail?

The smooth curves. The soft rolling hills. The fresh look of a new freeway. It is beautiful.
How far north does this expansion go? And why did they expand the freeway as they did out in some of the most rural landscapes of Texas?

I think I-35 is now widened to six lanes all the way from Waco to the split near Hillsboro.

According to recent Google Earth imagery, a widening is also in progress between Salado and Belton, and from Temple to Waco. They acquired quite some right-of-way through Temple to widen that elevated stretch.

Since I have seen nothing posted about the Dallas Horseshoe Project, I would like to present a few photographs taken at the end of June.
The Horseshoe Project is a major overhaul that is drastically changing the freeway landscape around the CBD of Dallas, Tx. The Project includes several new bridges and expansion of 30 and 35 corridors, as well as a complete overhaul of the "Canyon" basin that severs downtown from the Cedars District.

The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex is very likely to get a brand new freeway "belt". Though it has been discussed for nearly 6 decades, Loop 9--as the infamous project has been opined--is on the verge of becoming reality!

This site contains current information as confirmed on July 13, 2015.
Quote:
Arterial streets like Bear Creek Road and Belt Line Road are growing more congested as the area adds residential, commercial, and industrial development. More people living, shopping and working in the area means more vehicles on the roads. Heavy truck traffic from the Inland Port inter-modal freight facility near I-45 coupled with ongoing international freight movement may put even more pressure on the local transportation system...
Public Meetings were held in May and September 2013 (see Public Involvement for more information). The Corridor/Feasibility Study was completed and approved by TxDOT in March of 2014...
The Study recommends utilizing the currently available funding to begin engineering and environmental studies for the section of Loop 9 from I-35E to I-45 (Corridor B) first. This section is approximately 9.5 miles in length and is anticipated to cost $710 million. Subsequent sections would be advanced based on local needs and available funding.

Wow....that took like for--effing--ever to complete, finally!!!!

I always wondered why they did a complete overhaul for one extra lane in each direction instead of just paving over the grassy median and adding a wall. That's how my lazy-ass would have done it and in much less time.

They should bump that speed limit to 80 for the advanced engineering put into this.

I-35 is a very busy interstate for long distance traffic for North America along with travel between the major Texas cities. It was needed.

I-10, D'Iberville, Mississippi

A new diverging diamond interchange (DDI) recently opened to traffic in southern Mississippi, at I-10 and D'Iberville Boulevard. It is the first DDI in the United States at a semi-interchange.

The new Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in New Haven Connecticut. The first span was the first extradosed bridge in the United States.

Back when I still lived in Connecticut, I remember the project being huge. It's not only the bridge, but they've redone the interchanges on I-95 to connect to I-91 and CT Route 34. The flyover lanes are definitely the tallest in the state now.

To be fair, the state could simply move the requirement to 3 people, and congestion might slightly get better for a little while.

I heard they are planning to do that on I-405 once the widening/HOT lane project is completed.

Yeah thats true. Sucks because I won't get to use the HOV lanes since I rarely ever have more than 2 people in my car.

Yeah they should be done by late 2016. Most of the ramps have been replaced, just the I-95 main span remains to be done. They are starting up the I-84 Waterbury widening and I-95 West River.

The I-84 widening through Waterbury is definitely overdue.

I actually think the entire portion between Danbury and Waterbury should have at least six lanes.

You may, but will have to pay. I think all the HOV lanes in the Seattle area will be transformed into HOT lanes eventually.

As the state runs out of room to widen the lanes of I-5 or I-405 in the future, they will likely start limiting access further.
