I'll bet that's cuz it falls in that little "flyover country" region.

If you have the idea that downtown OKC is dead, you should probably come back today. I was there yesterday (a Thursday) and the streets were packed from the east side of Bricktown all the way to the west side of DT.

8.0 for density and position.

Should definitely increase with a new signature tower or two, which is expected to be announced shortly along with some additional residential towers!

OKC's downtown skyline may be rather smallish overall but for a 1.3M metro it is not bad at all. especially when you consider that OKC has a suburban skyline to the NW as well.

Definitely a big city feel downtown, especially when you're in it with that density of office space (see some of the street pics, it'd be hard pressed from the buildings in those shots not to think you were in a MUCH larger city). Like was said, some of the pics don't really do it justice as in person on the street it is pretty impressive.

Are there any new proposals for skyscrapers close to the downtown area?

Crimson, there area about 5 skyscraper proposals floating around downtown. The one which is most firm is coming from Devon Energy, an Oklahoma City based Oil/Gas firm which already is spread throughout downtown. We should see/hear something within the next year. We're all hoping that Devon's tower is a new signature tower that takes the tallest in the state.

There is also a mixed use tower that has hit the street, I think everyone is waiting for this most recent wave of downtown development (ie, housing this time) to conclude in a year or so then we'd probably see much higher demand due to the existing vacant commercial space geting absorbed.

Big Jim, yes OKC's skyline does remind you of LA (smallish but somewhat impressive) prior to the buildup that we see LA today. But you do have to admit, it is a nice cluster and would have been bigger if not for the suburban "high-rise cluster/district" that OKC has to the NW of downtown. If all of the buildings were downtown and/or if urban renewal would not have torn down so much (and so far not replaced ), then downtown would be much more impressive already.

There's no unique things about the skyline, it doesn't stand out from the other skylines.

This panoramic does a pretty good job showing the skyline from the Art District on the west side, to the CBD, to Bricktown/Deep Deuce, and the Medical District on the east.

A feeling of the many rural areas that are still scattered within the city limits of OKC, and a view of the skyline showing Midtown on the left (north) and the CBD .

I think that this city has the average skyline for a city of 1.3 million.
8/10
The streets of downtown are somewhat busy after business hours.
Nice pics on those!
By the way, this is an awesome picture of the density of the city!
