Great List!?

Here's another Top Five Building during that time Philadelphia City Hall. It is the world's tallest masonry building. The walls are an amazing 11ft thick concrete, rather than steel. The statue weighs an unbelievable 27 tons. It took 30 years to build this work of Art.. From 1871 to 1901 Completion Date 1901.. 548 ft

Interesting, Eiffel Tower and Empire State Building both had 41 year reigns. These days, ten years seems long!

That's a strange list, it goes from listing the world's tallest structures to the world's tallest buildings. No building has been the world's tallest structure since a certain radio mast was built in 1954.

Anyway, if you want to find out what buildings were the tallest in any given year, the SSP diagrams are probably the best resource to find out, although I'm not sure if you'll ever find out which was tallest as early as 1860. There aren't many records of tall buildings from that early, and what you find may not be accurate.

These are tallest structures. How about tallest buildings? I think buildings with people with living/people space makes more sense than creating 100 metre spires and roofs.

Pagodas from Asia would make it to the world tallest ancient buildings.

Don't be so lazy Mike LOL. Scroll down and you'll find that the Chrysler Building held the title from 1930-31. A whole one year.
