Christmas in Birmingham

I thought I would start a thread seeing as there's so much going on.

The best one for me is that there is going to be a real ice rink in Centenary Square from the end of this month for 8 weeks!

Also the lights switch on on Saturday features Girls Aloud, Liberty X, Big Brovaz, Alexander O'Neal, Jo from S Club and the lights are being swicthed on by Tony Christie.

I doubt any other city could beat that!

Oh God

I suppose it beats Daphne and Celeste and the Tweenies, which we had a few years back, but still...

Is it called Christmas this year then? Or is that too upsetting for some people again?

It's good - the kids will like it and after a few glasses of mulled wine or Gluhwein...

One good thing about the Tories - none of this Winterval b******s

How long's that French market staying on New Street? Is it being replaced by the Frankfury Christmas market as usual?

Is anything else special happening over Christmas?

Not that I care... there's no way I'm going up town on a Saturday to do my Christmas shopping... Merry Hell on a weeknight methinks... get it all in one go.

There's a bigger Frankfurt Market this year - once again the largest German market outside Germany & Austria!

Christmas Grotto, canalboat light parade, reindeer & lantern parade in the Bullring, pantomime horse grand national, the wheel (of course),all the Christmas concerts at Symphony Hall (which are brilliant btw) - the list goes on!

"Once again"? Well it was smaller than the one in Manchester last year and ours is supposedly going to be bigger again this year, so where you you get your facts?

Because yours was smaller last year and they've made ours bigger. If you've noticed, every time something is made bigger in Manc the reason is to make it bigger than everyone elses. Shops, malls, markets, skyscrapers... everything.

Earlybird - are you really that thick? Or is it irony? Once again you are tempted, make a completely anal response and get yourself all worked up.

Really what? The simple fact is that Manchester had both the UK's largest German market and the UK's largest European market last Christmas. Both are now back and bigger than before.
