Just noticed something kinda wierd, how come the last two posts are not in order. Check the times of the posts of both Dubai-Lover's and BinDubai's posts. BinDubai's should have come first. Dubai-Lover, are you cheating?

This is problems in other forum boards also. It happens that the reply apear before the post it is actually replying to.
It seams it has to do with the fact that people post from different time zone and somehow the forum's software engine "translates" the input wrong. |

Elevated toll road planned
Dubai: An elevated toll road is expected to be constructed over Shaikh Zayed Road, sources said. Dubai Municipality is studying a proposal to build an elevated road over Shaikh Zayed Road, sources said. The road would begin near the Al Garhoud and Al Maktoum bridges, and would run till the Dubai-Abu Dhabi border, sources said. The length of the road would be 60 kilometres, and would be raised seven metres above the ground, sources said. It has been proposed as a way to alleviate traffic problems on Shaikh Zayed Road. The municipality has invited five companies to submit proposals on how to build the road, Gulf News has learnt. The municipality will select the best offer and pass it to the emirate's authorities. Among the companies expected to participate in the proposal process are Cansult and Wilbur Smith, Gulf News has learnt. Motorists would have to pay a toll to use the road.

Fifth interchange will undergo redesign
Dubai: A completely redesigned traffic complex will replace Shaikh Zayed Road's fifth interchange, said an official at Dubai Municipality. "This is one of the most congested parts of Shaikh Zayed Road, in terms of traffic, due to the massive residential and commercial projects being built nearby," said Hashim Al Hashim, head of the road planning section. The new interchange will ease traffic congestion by providing freeway access, he said. People living or working in such areas as Dubai Marina, Media City, Internet City, Al Nakheel Lake Towers and Emirates Golf Club will benefit from the new interchange, he said. "Construction will start within two months. It will be completed in about 18 months," Al Hashim said. Alternate routes will be provided to ensure traffic flows easily during construction, he said. Traffic congestion at the fifth interchange has increased, said Dilawar Malek, who works at a hotel near Dubai Marina. "The interchange is very busy. You have to wait a long time to cross, and there are many accidents because of the congestion," he said. "A large number of residential and commercial complexes and skyrises are being built in the area around the interchange," Maliaka D. said. "A better road network and a bigger interchange will help everyone cope with the increasing traffic," she said. The new interchange is part of the Shaikh Zayed Road improvement plan initiated by the municipality, Al Hashim said. "We have already constructed new interchanges at interchanges numbers two and four. Another is under construction at interchange number three. We have also constructed two new bridges one between interchanges two and three, and another between interchanges four and five," he said. New facility * Work on the new interchange will start within two months. It will be completed in about 18 months. * The new interchange will ease traffic congestion in the area. * The road network will serve people living or working in such areas as Dubai Marina, Media City, Internet City, Al Nakheel Lake Towers and Emirates Golf Club. * Alternative routes will be provided during the construction period.

Traffic flow to ease as new cloverleaf interchange opens
Dubai: The Al Manara Interchange has opened on Shaikh Zayed Road, making possible smoother traffic flow. The Dh98 million interchange, also known as Interchange No 3, will benefit residential and commercial areas of Al Safa 2, Umm Al Suqueim, Al Quoz Industrial Area and Al Manara, said Badr Al Gergawi, head of the road construction section at the municipality. "The new cloverleaf interchange will also handle the additional traffic being generated by several new developments in the area, such as Dubai Internet and Media cities, Dubai Marina, the American University of Dubai, the Palm and a lot of other new developments," he said. Al Gergawi said the two-lane directional ramp was constructed to the south of the interchange to enable direct access to the Al Quoz Industrial Area, smoothing the flow of traffic to the area and adjoining areas, such as Nad Al Sheba, as well as the planned developments nearby. The 370-metre ramp is located between the third and fourth interchanges. "The projects are the result of a comprehensive survey carried out by the municipality to look for solutions to tackling the problem of increasing traffic on the road, and are considered essential to cope with the projected growth of the area," he said. The Roads Department at the Municipality plans to replace all the interchanges on Shaikh Zayed Road with multiconnectivity interchanges over the next few years. According to a traffic expert at the municipality, about 50,000 vehicles use the interchange and the two-lane ramp every day. "This new project will help ease traffic on the Fourth Interchange as well," he said. A fifth lane has been added in both directions of Shaikh Zayed Road, it is six lanes at the site of the interchange. The interchange includes two 105-metre bridges that will ensure free traffic flow between Umm Suqueim and the Al Quoz Industrial Area.
