I work in this corner of River North, and aside from pudgy little 451 West Huron, there ain't a lot to report. The 501 West Huron site is still occupied by the lovely Ronsley loft building. Sort of shame that the building will have to go. But it's still business as usual, so it may be a while before this tower goes up.
Hudson Tower is like a mini version of Block 37. The billboard has been up for ages, but not a drop of work done. Reminds me of the Gammonley building that was planned for the SE corner of Chicago and Orleans. Big announcement. Big rendering. And then mouselike silence. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the neighborhood. The rest of River North is slowly, achingly moving this way and with the old Montgomery Ward rebirth and the eventual redevelopment of Cabrini, there is certainly some potential energy here. |

I was wondering if I should hold off on the downtown stuff, since it is already well covered and focus on the neighborhoods.

I think, for now, high development hoods like the ones on the north side deserve their own thread |

![]() Oh, and do you know when the Cabrini Green redevelopment will start? That'd probably help things progress. Until I drove throught it this summer, I had no idea what a (heart breaking) eye-sore it was. Last edited by pottebaum; November 13th, 2005 at 11:50 PM. |

I was just browsing through Emporis, and that 451 W Huron project is shooting up FAST

Snce we have this thread, Park Kingsbury (501 W Huron) is dead and instead the developers will rehab the existing building into lofts.

While I don't generally have NIMBY-ist tendencies, I can't say I'm sorry to see the old Ronsley loft building sticking around a bit longer. Something about those thick Doric columns at the entry are just so spot on. I've got a real soft spot for this old hunk of building.
It's a really lovely bit of River North there. |
