Dubai is base for Mesa's Mena operations

by Elsa Baxter Jun 7, 2009

The international landscaping firm Mesa has been granted a trade licence for an office in Dubai, it has been reported.

A senior company official told Emirates Business that Mesa was looking to expand into Abu Dhabi also.

"We are also pursuing a licence in Abu Dhabi. But Dubai will be our hub office for the Mena region and Asia," Will Jones, Associate at Mesa, told the newspaper.

"In the past four years, we have done more than 50 projects in the Middle East in a joint venture relationship with an American strategic partner. Now we have our own licence," said Jones.

Mesa specialises in landscape architecture, planning and urban design.

The firm is currently working on the Ferrari project on Yas Island and has completed all the design for the first phase of the Ferrari Experience Theme Park.

Depa announces $54.4m Ferrari World deal

FERRARI WORLD: Depa on Monday announced a contract to work on the world's largest indoor theme park.

by Alex Delmar-Morgan on Monday, 17 August 2009

Interior contractor Depa said on Monday its Abu Dhabi subsidiary and joint venture partner have won a AED200m ($54.4m) contract to complete the fit out for the Ferrari World theme park on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

Depa, which is overseeing the fit-out for the world’s tallest building, the Burj Dubai, said in statement on Monday that work on the Ferrai World Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest indoor theme park, scheduled to open in 2010, would include flooring, walls doors and ceilings.

Aldar BeSix appointed Depa, which has been given a completion date of March 31 2010, the statement added.

Depa’s joint venture partner is Mivan Depa, whose previous projects include The Atlantis Hotel and Museum of Islamic Arts in Doha. Depa Abu Dhabi is Depa's subsidiary.

The theme park will feature 20 rides and attractions including the world’s fastest rollercoaster and a racetrack.

Don't know the exact opening date yet. Just know that will open towards the middle/end of next year. Defiantly before the next GP I can imagine.

Ferrari World on track for 2010

The Ferrari World theme park in Abu Dhabi, billed as the largest indoor theme park in the world, is on track to open next year, the operator says.

The theme park, which is part of Aldar’s US$40 billion (Dh146.92bn) Yas Island development and will have the world’s fastest roller coaster, will play a significant role in Abu Dhabi’s plans to raise the number of visitors to the capital.

“It will not open in the first quarter of 2010, but it’s going to be 2010,” said Nadine Traboulsi, the marketing director of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. “It’s still on schedule and nothing has been delayed.”

Building work on the external structure is about 90 per cent complete, according to Ferrari World. Last month, the interiors contractor Depa in Dubai was awarded a Dh200 million contract to fit out the theme park. Once the building is finished, the operator would need three months for staff training and other preparations before it would be able to open the park to the public, Ms Traboulsi said....... cont. More and more buildings are poping up inside. It's very dusty inside as the building is closed now and the dust can't be blown away anymore. Hard to imagine now how it will look like, but I'm sure it will be good.
