I love this building, really classy....but i still think it was a missed opportunity to have another 150m+ tower in the city.

I know you can argue that the design wouldnt be suitable or look as good over the 150m height, but once the 200m+ towers start rising 2007/08, the Willis building will be lost and become less noticible....which it dosent deserve.

Another 25-50m would have meant it could hold its own, once its bigger brothers appear on the scene.

Was the height set by planning restrictions or cost?

It's what the Willis Group wanted.

And btw, having seen the 3D models on Google Earth, I don't think it will be "lost". It will still be an important part of the cluster.

It will be on the outside of the cluster so it will still have a dominant place in the skyline.

Jesus I want a flat in the Barbican soooo much... The great advantage also is that if you live in one of the towers with a bit of luck you don't have to look at them!

Yeah but they weird thing is they actually look fantastic to me on the skyline, the way they look from Hungerford/waterloo bridge is fantastic....I really believe that. Also I used to think they were disgusting close up but something may, and I mean may be changing in me. Maybe its the good weather that makes them look better? Hmmmm dont know..

Great design and is going to be a great asset to city. I didnt hear about this until now but it looks great. It's brilliant to hear the core is completed too.
