i like the new rendering better. I was down there a couple of days ago and the lot is fenced off, the gravel cleared and the signs up. digging should start any day. Also, LA live is well underway with digging going on, and reports from SSP, Venture (40 and 27 stories, between Staples and the Blue Line, and the South Groups second project (next to Venture, two 34 story towers and maybe a 60+)will both break ground next June. Luma is also taking Shape and Evo breaks ground in the next couple of weeks.
With those ads, downtown LA will looker even more ged-up. Imagine LA Live Plaza, those ads lit up, the Hotel Figueroa, the 818 or 801 Figueroa [whatever it's called] the 777 Tower, the Sanwa Plaza, and the new Arco Plaza, plus staples center in game nights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LA will definately have a skyline light show in a few years.

Also, Venture, the Metropolis project and i think the second South group project are all part of the entertainment zone and will have lighted billboards and ads and such.
The Venture project is the one directly across from Staples between fig, 11th and flower and the blue line station. it will be two towrs, one 40 stories and one 27, with a entertainment plaza with retail and a pathway from the blue line to fig. I would guess that FIDM would start in the same time frame and the Glass tower is entitled and ready to go, as long the land owner finds a developer to buy the land. The second south group project is next to Venture and is two 34 story towers and pending Entitlement, a possible 60+ according to some posters at SSP, but dont count on the 60+ until we hear something definite.
here is the link to the Venture project thread i started.
