I'd go to the White Rose more if it was more accessible- ie if I could get a train. Buses, as we all know, are a nightmare and I'd probably spend the time it took me to get there researching what routes I need, where to change and how much it would cost. I only go when I have the car, which isn't very often.

First 3/3A, every 10 minutes from the Corn Exchange. Arriva 202/203, every 15 minutes from Swinegate. Although you could spend longer researching it, it is only 15 minutes on the bus from town so you wouldn't have long to do so. This thread just reminded me I actually have to go to the White Rose now, ta :-) Last edited by lazygamer; October 29th, 2011 at 02:17 PM. |

You get the point. And I still don't know how much it costs!
The flaw in that plan too is that I have to walk across the retail core from where my bus in drops me to get to any of those services!

I've never even taken a bus to the WRC before, I have no idea where to get them from!

It also helps if you've bought a Dayrider to get into town in the first place, otherwise it's too expensive to bother. Mon dieu, tis a frightening vision of Leeds that presents itself when you're standing in the New Market Street bus shelters. But of course, one rarely feels comfortable mixing with the commoners. |

Why do we have such ugly bus shelters? You would have thought someone would have designed something a bit more minimalist and visually attractive considering they're everywhere.
Anyway, I also try not to use buses. Mainly because they're expensive and unreliable, but also because I don't really know where I'm going to on a bus. How do I know the name of the stop to ask for the right fare? And considering I don't know the fare beforehand, how do I know if I've got enough money? Why can't bus stops have clearly defined names like rail stations do? If not ticket machines, a fare calculator app on phones, internet etc would be helpful. I'd go to the WRC more if I could get there more quickly than town - I suppose if I had a car in Leeds it'd be more attractive.

Edinburgh has really attractive bush shelters. Not the most important thing in the world, but I noticed too, maybe it's about time Metro had an overhaul and got a new colour scheme..

I don't think they need to change their colour- red is good, it just needs to be deployed more instead of First/Arriva/Transdev and Northern branding everywhere. It's confusing.

I've always hated the red colour to be honest..
(call me sad, but I have found a picture of bus stops in Edinburgh) |

![]() I dont see the problem with red tbh. I guess the bus shelter's in Edinburgh blend in better with the surrounding's. However the newer bus shelter's (like the one in the pic above) are mainly glass and have minimal red bits on them. Maybe we should change the colour of post and telephone boxes whilst were at it... ?

How is it not confusing? There are several different tickets from several different operators, and then Metro tickets on top of those.

Yes, but the newer bus shelters which are mainly glass look fine.
Lets face it though, the bus companies in this country arent going to waste their money painting or replacing bus shelter's because they look unattractive.

A lot of companies (and councils) waste money on crap that nobody wants or needs.
