Great thread, Spyguy! I was depressed that beautiful building was torn down. If it is still standing, it will make a fantastic monument in the Central Station redevelopment as a reminder of rich architectural heritage in late 19th century to early 20th century.

Hooray! The 720-ft One Museum Park is now officially under construction.

This will help definitely help define the southern portions of Grant Park.

I'm so happy about all these mega-developments in Chicago: Central Station, River East, and Lakeshore East. It's exciting to see entire areas of the city completely transformed by new construction.

They're especially pleasing when each tower is different in height and style.

Here are some photos of Museum Tower by BVictor:

Tallest All Residential in Chicago

I read on the Emporis site that One Museum Park will be the tallest "all residential buildining in Chicago at 720 feet. Can that be true?

One Museum Park will be the tallest building in the Central Station development and the tallest in Chicago south of Van Buren Street.
- This will surpass 340 on the Park as the tallest all-residential building in Chicago.

Anyone know what the current compeletd tallest all residential is?

Yeah, it most likely is true. I can't think of any existing tower that's that tall and all residential and all of the taller towers that are proposed or UC have hotel components too.

1600 Museum Park next to come

Found this on todays Chicago Crains Business:Commercial Transactions on 11/30/05 Central Station LLC sold the property at 1621 S. Prairie Ave. in the South Loop for $5.2 million to 1600 Museum Park LLC. Given the Central Area Plan for the Near South Loop this will more than likely be a 20 to 25 story tower.

http://enterprisecompanies.qm4.net/m...spx?Action=Sub allows you to sign up for a presale registration; says their sales grand opening is going to be in early 2006.

I honestly like The OMP Wet even more than OMP it's self, not as fat yet classically glassy..

OMP looks so fat now because they changed the proportions so they could add more units (I believe).

BVictor is reporting that 1600 Museum Park will be 30 floors and roughly 110 m, subject to change.

BVictor just went by the sales center. Here's his update:

I also heard a rumor that because of the success of OMP East, there is a chance that tower 4(at the corner of Michigan & Roosevelt) could possible be the taller. As I said, this is just a rumor.
Maybe OMP won't be the crown jewel after all

Here are some great photos from Pandemonious today:
