My trip to Barcelona, Part 2 - Tibidabo, L`Eixample

Last time I entered Plaza Catalunya - big and nice square in the center of Barcelona, important underground and overland transportation hub, meeting place and entertainment 24/7.

La Rambla from Plaza Catalunya

Tibidabo mountain in the background - view from Plaza Catalunya.

To the left and right - countless beautiful quarters of L`Eixample, affluent and wealthy part of Barcelona (one of them). Barcelona was home not only to the Olympic Games in 1992, but also host of World Fairs in 1888 and 1929, this was time of unprecedented economic growth in many cities across Europe (second part of the 19th century and early beginning of the 20th century before WW1)

Typical corner building in L`Eixample

Diagonal Avenue - La Sagrada Familia in the background four blocks away

Zooming in

Masterpiece of Antonio Gaudi - La Sagrada Familia. Unfinished until 2030

After visiting La Sagrada Familia, I entered metro (convenient and reliable) to reach lower part of Tibidabo mountain (line L3, direction Canyelles)

I walked uphill - walk was 7 kilometres long and took more than 90 minutes

It was raining a little bit and weather improved only several hours later

I enjoyed many vantage points - Central Barcelona, Montjuic mountain and Mediterranean in the background

Torre Collserola, Tibidabo and five star hotel La Florida not far away

Entering Tibidabo - entertainment park to the left

Torre Collserola from Tibidabo

Fantastic church in the top of Tibidabo. No other people were inside main hall of church, I really enjoyed it

Tibidabo observation platform

Weather started to improve afterwards

Vallvidrera funiculair

After funiculair I took train and then metro (L3, Vallcarca)

Next destination - Parc Guell, 600 m from Vallcarca station, tourist path

View from the top

Next part - Parc Guell, Montjuic, Olympic Barcelona
