-loft condominiums range from a comfortable 100m to a luxurious 630m

Central Place:

Central Place borders Jeppe and Henry Nxumalo streets and consists of a U-shaped, three-storey, brick building. Besides housing the GTA, radio station Kaya FM will take up residence and restaurants and bookstores shortly will move into the remaining ground floor space. A carbon copy of Central Place is to be built on the opposite corner of Dolly Rathebe Road and Henry Nxumalo Street.

Residential space is to be introduced on the eastern corner, opposite the Turbine Hall, on the corner of Jeppe and Miriam Makeba streets. The complex will also contain two cinemas, restaurants, a gym and other retail outlets. All buildings are to have underground parking. This is expected to cost R200-million.

Hell, I'd have to get a share of the pie once I'm back in SA. I'd definitely consider buying an apartment in one of those historic buildings. They are going to rocket!

Finally Joburg is getting really amazing projects, and what makes me really happy is that these projects are all in the CBD and not in the bloody suburbs!

I'll keep this thread updated- there are many more projects... unfortunately, the advertising is weak and doesn't get on the internet too much.

This thread is where all the INNER CITY / CBD stuff will go... suburban Johannesburg has been getting development all along, but this is the first time since the 1980's that we've seen good development like this in the downtown area. Exciting for us... it's amazing it's finally happening.

Nope

It's in Braamfontein, ("Bram-font-ayn") one of the dense, built-up downtown neighbourhoods of Johannesburg.

It's a redevelopment of a 1970's building, I believe.

The tower in the background of one of those photos is not the CN Tower in Toronto. It is the Sentech Tower, the shorter of two telecommunications towers in Johannesburg.
