Nutrition Month activities launched simultaneously in Vigan on July 24

VIGAN CITY, July 23 (PNA) -- All activities for the 35th National Nutrition Month will be simultaneously held here on Friday, July 24, at the city hall and at the Vigan Culture and Trade Center (VCTC).

Mayor Eva Marie Singson-Medina said this year’s nutrition celebration will be highlighted with the holding of nutrition quiz, poster slogan contest, mural painting, oratorical contest, cheer dance contest, speech choir contest, draw and tell contest, cooking contest and symposium on healthy lifestyle.

These activities will be participated in by pupils and students from pre–school to college, she said.

It was reported that through the city's nutrition program, the malnourished incidence among children had been tremendously reduced as compared with the result of monitoring last year.

“The city government of Vigan is actively implementing programs to attain its ultimate objectives of “zero” malnourish incident in the future,” she said.

At the same time, the lady mayor disclosed that the city government through Vigan City Nutrition Council is implementing its long-term nutrition program.
Among these are massive feeding and supplemental feeding among school children; bio-intensive gardening; training for agricultural teachers; intensified information education campaign on the significance of nutrition and healthy lifestyle; regular evaluation on nutritional status of secondary, elementary school children and day care; strengthening of the barangay nutrition councils particularly in recording and action planning; conduct of mother’s class for health lifestyles; educational field trips; operation K2; and the conduct of different searches on following: most number of rehabilitated malnourished children in the barangay, most outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar, best in morning routine exercises in the elementary level, most nutri-functional school canteen and best in school garden. hi vigan, i'm from tagum city of mindanao.. just dropping by hoping someone could help me find my sister her name is adela bacus singson, its been 32 years since the last time we heard about her. all we know is she married a guy from vigan - SINGSON family name.... dont know his first name.. sorry... hope somebody from your lovely city will help me find her.. thank you and more power Vigan City.. i know that this is not the right thread to look for someone who is missing... but still hoping. tnx sorry.........
