Urban Splash | Springfield Lane | Salford | 28ksqft food store / 40 Properties | Pro

Caw! If everyone knows about this remove its straightaway?!(arf!)
(note: No mentions of towers in the title! )

Is it an old proposal for the Urban Splash beach site? Can't be? Thats not near Boddingtons Brewery? Any clues about the exact location? Greengate prehaps?

Looks like an entry for the costa dell thingy comp, i've seen loads of mad designs across the internet.

Although, there are some more renders of the lumiere building on that site.

Urban Splash Springfield Lane Salford

This has been around for what seems an eternity. However Urban Splash have recently updated their website and it's still on there. The info about the proposal is still the same,(beach) but I don't remember seeing that render before.

Also note Downley Drive. (I like overhangs)

This four acre site sits on the Manchester-Salford boundary and has the River Irwell flowing right through it. Weston Williamson won the RIBA organised competition and have included plans for Manchester's first ever beach.

That is a new render, because i live almost right where this is happening i have been trying to follow it, i thought it was dead in the water. I am not sure about planning apps but they had some sort of competition in schools to do with the beach.

mm urban splash like their schools competitions then. the "three towers" project has the buildings named by school children, they chose the three suffragettes (emmeline, crystabel and sylvia)

Actually US did an online competition to name the 3 towers, the winner getting an apartment in one of the towers for a year I believe!

In my entry, i suggested Veni, Vidi and Vici!

Not dead, just sleeping

Apologies if picked up elsewhere, but there is an announcement due about this site, if not this exact scheme.

It's about to go in for planning permission and as part of pre-application consultation they are going to invite local residents to a presentation and Q&A session on 9th February.

Famous architect.

Landmark structure.

Unique design.

New direction.

Anyone interested?

Good work Trinity. Isn't this the sight formerly proposed for the Manchester beach, on the banks of the Irwell? Great news to see these Salford' sides of the borders with Manchester finally starting to feel the ripple of regeneration.

This would help to bridge the baron gap between Manchester Cathedral/ Greengate/ Chapel St developments and importantly help the regeneration ripple to cross Trinity Way, and connect with the New Broughton regeneration, which I'm personally a big fan of even though at this stage it does feel rather disjointed, due both to the huge amount of ground that this project covers and the slowing of progress with the general economic constraints.

Nice one. I look forward to hearing more.

Yes GS, that's the place and it's crying out for some TLC.

A recent success has been cutting back loads of overgrown shrubs and dissuading the gangs, substance abusers and lurkers from using the area, but it's prime real estate and should have something proper on it.

They want to tell the local residents first but when we see the flyers and hear more at the presentation I'll get some details up on here.

It's very much the best idea proposed yet, and will help to draw people across Trinity Way and open up and populate the badlands a bit.

Uww you tease! I look forward to details.

Considering it's a stones throw from M'cr. Cathderal it's shame on Salford Council that this whole area has been left so deprived and unused for so long.

With the Boddington's sight now cleared and some albeit slow activity around Greengate, it is great to hear of a new and promising proposal apparently bubbling under the surface!
