9/10 The CIS Tower looks great after the reclad, I actually prefer it to most of the newer office blocks that have gone up in the city centre!

CIS looks a lot better after the reclad but it still just looks a little dull. 7/10

9/10 - I've loved this building ever since I moved to Manchester - it's ambitious and proud and it looks great from wherever you see it. I've only kept a point back just in case god personally builds something better.

The part that has been reclad looks miles better, however, the main body still looks like a 70's eyesore, it's the glass that looks dated, like a two way mirror or something. Maybe the whole thing is being done at some point, but as it is 5.

I gave the original tower 7/10 but the new look deserves 8.5/10 . Those silver grilles at the top stop me giving in full marks

Fantastic re-clad, I wish all reclads were this good, we'd have some stunning buildings! A firm 8/10 now. Don't forget, when the building was first erected this is how it must have looked, clean proud and new.. so the reclad makes it more like it was designed to be..

Rating has increased from a 6 to a 9. Personally the main office part and the concrete service core didnt look right together but the reclad has resolved this.

Improves it by a suprisign amount. I nver understood what people liked about his and would struggled to have even given it a 5. Now i=Id giev it at least a 7 and maybe an 8

No it doesn't depend. Contrary to what simon says the lowest credible energy in:energy out ratio Ive seen for pvs is 1:1 http://www.jeffvail.net/2006/11/ener...ovoltaics.html

As you can see that includes pretty silly things like all the energy consumed by the workers at home (which would be just as high if they were unemployed doing nothing).

Every other cladding will be worse than 1:1. In particular part of the reason for the discrepancy between the pv manufactures claims and the 1:1 figure is the inclusion of the energy costs of transporting and fitting the panels. Those energy costs will be comparably high with any type of cladding. Thats without even considering the impact that increased Pv sales will have on r &d and future improvements.

I've always had a fondness for the CIS building, but the reclad has given it a new lease of life. One of Manchester's iconic buildings. 9/10
