Wow, the tail looks awful. There's no other way to put it. Unreal.

Like. Much more contemporary. Sadly makes United's livery rather dated.

The logo (or they call it "flight symbol") is absolutely beautiful. I think the subtly of the eagle is incredibly elegant. But the tail just so loud. I don't mind the American flag at all, but I think continuing the flag down to the fuselage makes it look really incomplete. I also think the colour of the font on "American" should have been darker to make it stand out more (Finnair's stand out nicely on its aircraft).

I don't see how anyone likes the new American Airlines livery. American is my favorite airline, so sad to see the identity change so drastically. In the demo the plane appears to be a beautiful chrome paint finish while the real plane looks like a dull grey appearance. It went from looking like a serious business airline to an LCC or charter vacation airline.

I actually like the new livery as well (although I will miss the old one). However I think they just should have put the flag on the tail only and make the font a little darker to make it stand out more.

American's new livery is disrespectful to the American flag. They have reduced our national ensign to a mere deformed contraption of colorful neon-light that is just horrible to the sight. It pretty much suffocates. All those lines and all that color seems to recall that it was perhaps made to satisfy a market of teenagers with ADD. Really sad American. I wonder if they'll ever react to the massively negative reaction people have given to this new livery?

United's livery is about 50x better looking than this mess.

Do I like American's new look? No. Is it better than what they had? Significantly.

Generally with our major airlines the new livery is worse, so I'm a bit surprised. I liked United's old livery much more than Continental's, and oh how I miss Deltaflot.

Comparing AA's old livery... (Source)

With the new one... (Source)

I highly believe that the newer one wins. However, I'd prefer to see the eagle instead of a revised version of the American flag on the tail because the eagle has been the mainstay logo of the airline for a long time, and the flag at the tail makes me feel -- I mean, really? I know AA could've chosen the eagle as the tail logo... But, oh well.

It has that Air France feel to it. Will miss those metallic planes!

Too much of a European feel imho
Cover the words and just leave the logo and you could say Air France's new logo

Large billboard style lettering for the airline name on the plane seems the way to go. If I recall, Singapore Airlines and Emirates where the ones that started this fashion esp on their A380. Another very noticable airlines that have taken this style is Finnair and Japan Airlines.

I liked the (now) old AA livery/logo so much better. I understand why they had to change it and agree that it's probably a good idea to really change instead of just transplant it. The silver & stripes of AA was, when properly clean, my favorite livery out there.

Now however, AA is about on par with the other US carriers. Of course it's all subjective but I think the best livery in the US right now is DL. That's kinda sad. At least AA didn't just go with eurowhite.
