The new AA livery on the B77W looks pretty nice, but I think the graphics department can do something better with its tail...

Looks like there are two updates from Spirit Airlines (NK), a US-based ultra-low cost carrier:

First, the airline will adjust its Denver service wherein it will cancel its service to Phoenix-Mesa and it will reallocate the canceled service for a new flight to Minneapolis. Details and schedules:

Denver – Minneapolis: effective 25 April 2013
NK115 DEN1029 – 1325MSP 319 D
NK116 MSP1405 – 1506DEN 319 D

Denver – Phoenix Mesa: Service cancelled from 25 April 2013. Last flight operates on 24 April 2013 with following schedule:
NK115 DEN1040 – 1133AZA 319 D
NK116 AZA1220 – 1504DEN 319 D

Source

Second, the airline is planning one new route out of Los Angeles and two routes from Las Vegas starting 25 April 2013. Details and schedules:

Houston – Los Angeles:
NK217 IAH2105 – 2250LAX 319 D
NK216 LAX2340 – 0450+1IAH 319 D

Las Vegas – Baltimore:
NK696 LAS2347 – 0720+1BWI 320 D

The grey has this sleek military look off of it. Then suddenly you have this loud in-you-face tail though which is a bit jarring. Not bad though overall.

The AA and US Airways merger could be officially announced next week.

Quote:
American Airlines And US Airways Near Merger Deal

American Airlines and US Airways are close to making an agreement to merge the two companies, cutting a deal which would create the world’s biggest airline.

To be clear, the merger is still in negotiations and could fall apart, but the WSJ reports that American Airlines’ creditors support the deal, so it’s likely to go through. If that happens, the new company will probably keep the American Airlines name and branding, and will be run by US Airways CEO Doug Parker.

Wait: AA is with oneworld, while US Airways is with Star Alliance... hmmm, looks like the combined airline will add Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Phoenix as AA's new hubs, as well as adding the A320 and A330 families to the combined airline's fleet. If that happens, I wonder the possibilities of finally retiring AA's aging MD-80 fleet for good and replacing them with the A320 and B737 families of aircraft.

American Airlines-US Airways Merger Approved By Boards, Deal To Be Announced Thursday: Sources
Whoa... that'll mean AA will operate Airbus aircraft too in the process, as well as the E-Jets and the remaining B734s in US Airways' current fleet. If AA operates the A330s, that'll mean even more flights to Europe, if not South America. Hopefully though, AA can expand even further to Asia with a hub in, say, NRT.

Report: US Airways, American Airlines agree on merger

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- US Airways and American Airlines have agreed on merger terms that would create the world's biggest airline as measured by passenger traffic, according to Bloomberg News.
In the move current US Airways CEO Doug Parker would be the new CEO while American CEO Tom Horton will be named the non-executive chairman.
Click here to read more information
A board vote is scheduled to approve the merger and announcement could come on Thursday, according to KVUE's sister station WFAA.
US Airways, whose largest hub in Charlotte Douglas International Airport, declined to comment on the Bloomberg report.
On Friday, US Airways pilots ratified an agreement covering their pay and working terms if there is a merger. That was the last major piece to fall into place on the labor side for a merger to occur.
American Airlines pilots approved a similar agreement in December. All three of American's unions support a merger that would result in US Airways management running the new company.
UNC Charlotte economics professor Peter Schwarz also says a merger could add about 100 additional daily flights into and out of Charlotte Douglas, to more locations with fewer layovers.

That is truly wonderful. I then wonder how many AA flights will be operating to the Bay Area once the post-merger is completed... And how many terminals will AA cover since US Airways will move to Terminal 3 to go along with United at SFO Airport. It'll be like, AA serves SFO and SJC, while US operates from SFO and OAK... Once the merger comes, AA will finally serve all three major Bay Area airports altogether.
