2-IFC being as enormous as it is is completely appropriate... it is HK's final way of showing that it is the G.O.D. on the block. Oh, but they do have a 1,588 ft. tower under construction right now though, don't they? Put the crown where it's at.
Mine is different. A building isn't consider a skyscraper if it's under 600 ft!

Anyway, The 2-IFC is not just the height but the architecture as well which was designed by Cesar Pelli! It's actually an impressive skyscraper especially at night!

600 ft. will do in some instances as well.

No need to tell me about the impressiveness of the 2IFC, I think its one of the greatest all-around skyscrapers ever built. I can't wait to see it in person.

Yes, I hope it is finished as scheduled by the end of 2007 because that is when I'll probably plan to go on my return trip.

I hope so as well! Can't imagine what HK will look like 50 years from now!

The Bank Of China tower looked better like this, without the Cheung Kong Centre on the side. The Citibank Tower would be enough to surround this tower.

Compare that image with this

Awesome pic. I firmly believe that no tower Asia ever builds will be as recognizable or innovative as the Bank of China in Hong Kong. That isn't meant to say that there won't be absolutely stunning new skyscrapers after it, because there are many of them already, I just don't believe any could serve as a better representative.

I actually like the Cheung Kong Centre, but the location couldn't be any worse for a box of that height. It takes a lot of focus off the BoC and is not on nearly the same level as an architectural gem or icon. I remember thinking "How dare you!" when it was going up and I'm still a little bitter about it today. Again, fine tower and box for HK, but not there.

The Cheung Kong Centre is an impressive building especially at night during The Symphoney Of Lights. I agree the location is a blow to The BoC. I think it would be better if it was built somewhere else!

But it's a Li Ka Shing building and the guy can afford to build where he wants his skyscraper!

I've gotten more and more used to it being there... it really is one of the better boxes in the world.

I agree that The Cheung Kong looks good for a boxed skyscraper. It actually represents the post-modern version of it.

Why if the BoC didn't exist, how will HK's skyline looK?

If I'm gonna pick my top 3, it's

1) BoC
2) HSBC Building
3) 2-IFC
