"The title says 700 - 905 m. I don't know why they won't release the exact height..."

It's not about them not wanting to release the exact height. But they are yet to decide how tall it should become, something that will be definitely decided during the construction phase.

"Probably from 2500 to 2800 feet tall!! They originally said 705 meters, and I think their original plan was to build the roof to that height, and add the spire on top of that.."

Did they ever say 705m or is it a rumour? The company just answered, when asked about the height and if it will be over 700m, something like the following: "- No one has ever said it will be any shorter than 800 m" (i don't remember exactly how they answered, but something like that).

There was also an old render (mostly grey with the bird's-eye view from the top of the tower against grey land) created by SOM that was associated with the 705 meter height. Thus, many SSP members are considering that figure as either the final height (because that's what SOM hinted at originally but which is out of date now), or expecting it to go beyond 800-900 meters. Hopefully that clears that up without being too confusing.

I for one, am wanting to lean toward the higher figures because of the overwhelming evidence of that most likely occuring throughout the 10 itterations of this thread. If for some reason it is "only" 700 meters, sure it's a dissapointment but that's still extrodinarily high. As Adrian Smith stated that he was even looking at something 800 meters+ in the conceptual analysis, I don't see why Emmar and Dubai are going to let everyone down by reducing the height.

Granted like another member stated, once that concrete core tops out, the real fun will be just watching how high the steel goes!

Yes the real fun is when the steal goes above the concrete. For almost two years now I have been pegging this building to be 830m to 860m. I'm sticking with that. The spoiler here is how much of a spire are they going to put. Remember that a 450 ft spire on BD is in balance with the 320 ft antennaes on Sears. They will give BD a soaring look to it and at that it may very well go to over 900m. Using the imperial measurement, 915m equals 3001 ft. Hey, you never know!

Emaar's BD website shows elevator buttons going to 196 floors or more.

Question.
Why would Emaar try to falsely promote their building to prospective clients from around the globe by lying about 196 floors on their sales webpage?

BD will exceed 700m to the roof. Probably reach 735m before the spire begins. From there a 135m to 165m spire is not entirely out of the question.

We know now that it is going up and it won't be too long before we find out. I suspect information will be leaked slowly that will give us a better understanding as how high BD will be. Granted the exact height to the meter or foot will probably be a last hour decision.

Lotta fun, lotta fun

Speaking of spires, musts, poles ... whatever: Why there is always a light pole blocking the view, whenever you try to shoot a picture while driving?

Altin:

Still good, you get a good view of the area which will hold the new downtown area.

It's based on a flower, if you can't see, see the yellow top?

It seams that the part inside the circle is the part build over the raft foundation. Count 4 sections in each wing.
