if they build a 400 m supertall in LD, one have to take into account than sooner or later more building in the 250-350 range will be built, then the skyline will be more balanced at the end of the day...

in order to strike very strong , they need to give a powerful signal saying : LA DEFENSE IS BACK !!!

i don't know about the local nimby's though....and all those typical angry people who like to oppose anything new and big just for the sake of it (damn those people need to get a life !!!)...

This is the reason why the supertall might be build before the new towers to come.

maybe 5 of them
this would rock

burj dubai will not stand alone

Nothing around 900 meters though... or even 400 for that matter. It's going to stick out... especially with that "old town" or whatever that they're building right next to it.

That was not an issue when they approved the 420m tall Tour San Fins...

Great news. A 'peak' of the skyline is exactly what La Defense needs. Too many towers have the same height now. Can't wait to see the rendering.

This is one of the best news I've heard lately!!!
Paris needs a supertall and other big towers to "pull up" the skyline and make the best high-rise district in Europe,or even the whole world,even better.
GO PARIS!

1, 2, 3 OR 4 : LOCATIONS FOR NEXT SUPERTALL IN LA DEFENSE

A, B & C : BUILDINGS WHICH MIGHT BE DESTROYED TO MAKE ROOM FOR NEW & MORE MODERN TOWERS

G = LOCATION OF GRANITE Tower, 185 m,under construction

T1 = LOCATION OF T1 TOWER, 187 m,under construction

Excellent news for Paris and for the whole of Europe! I hope they break the ground as soon as possible.

Is it finally going to happen in LD...I sure hope so.
Alltough it is not going to the Tour-sans-Fins design , a more daring design would be very welcome.

About the location : as "kony" is mentioning above to destroy actual towers is not a good idea imo.It is time to replace those cemeteries behind the Grand'Arche and create an entire new development for that site in the meantime its time to propose some new residential high rises aswell.

C'mon EPAD , go for it , think bigger for once!
La Défense is afterall the best cluster in Europe

yeah you're talking about those 2 cemeteries...there were talks in the 80's to move them away to another location (as weird as it can seem !)

but this raised , as one can imagine, some "issues", not to talk about the cost of such an operation...

Today with the even more voicing nymbies that would be impossible to move them.

but hey, they are part of la défense ! La Défense is the only CBD in the world to have 2 cemetaries as close neighbours !

Look, they are our "central parks"

But i think somehow it would be sad that the eiffel tower would not be the tallest any more...

I don't think the fact that Eiffel isn't the tallest anymore is sad. a Landmark remain a landmark even when it's not the tallest anymore, Notre Dame in Paris is a good example .

@kony : I think you're right to mention Franklin and Aurore as possible destructions, but I don't see Winterthur or AIG being destroyed, they've just been renovated.
I Think atlantique is another possibility, but I think that most destructions will be lower buildings.

Actually, wintherthur wasn't the one i wanted to point out...it's true it has been renovated not a long time ago...i missled it with a closeby tower.

talking of low-rise i can definately see the group of 3 buildings just under the red "2" being torn down...they take too much space !

Perhaps in a few years we'll see this (I've taken the 2IFC in HK for the rendering)
