Seeing is believing. I'm not convinced untill I've seen some decent renderings, but it would definately be great. They should built some 250-300 talls as well or it will stick out too much. Let's just keep our hopes up!

Doubting other posters' "credentials" (intelligence, education, etc.) based on the fact that they expressed disagreement over things that are rather arbitrary in the end is not much fairer, is it?

Just stick to commenting on the upcoming project please.

As we know, buildings like Bishopsgate tower and Heron hold considerably less than a million sq ft which is why its important that these projects get off the ground. Its obviously evident that we will expect a greater number of proposals in the not so distant future.

From the ambitious actions from British Land, we can see that they a preparing for the significant upturn in the markets from the construction of Willis and Broadgate. Their innovative 122 leadenhall building, which, has captured a wide interest from capable tenants already is obviously the peak of their personal business achievement forecast!

The high and mid-rise delevelopments that we know about today come nowhere near supplying a years worth of tenants.

All im going to say now is, this is just 2005. Red Ken only introduced the 'London developent plan' in mid 2004 (a plan to create a skyline of tall office building in the city to achieve economic growth - one of Ken's policies). Now, plans for skyscrapers that we dont even know exist are being drawn up as we speak. We know it takes years upon years to create a skyscraper. So expect a flood of new proposals in 2007 from companies from around the world who want to make a prensence in London through the success of the Olympics.'

That is more than 9,000,000 square meters we need by by 2016. We are gonna need a good few 400m+ towers over here

So before you start my friend, dont think this 1 scheme in La Defense will compare with whats going on here

(I was just replying to his thread by the way, im not trying to be a bastard)

because you're being a troll....the guy just made a comment that no longer will it be madrid and london getting 300m towers .that it might finally be paris getting a really tall building.....but yet you decided to come over and start controversy and bring data that was totally out of context and which didn't belong in this thread...it was obvious you just wanted to get attention.

yea but its still totally out of context what does london getting a 300m tower have to do with paris getting.....400m tower...there was no need to bring london into the conversation and you did.

This really is fantastic news for Paris, been waiting for this one for a while . Some people might not like it being higher than the Effel Tower, but nothing can be the tallest forever. And it's far enough away to not have any significant visual impact on it.

I think anyone who mentions London again in this thread should be brigged....it's getting stupid.

I don't think it's getting stupid..... I think it's already stupid.

It's getting even more stupid. Happy now? :p.

Does anyone know how soon we can expect a render to be released? or an official announcment?

I'm afraid we'll have to wait several long months to have something concrete (renders at least). Anyway now we know.

it is already official, but they'll have an architect contest for the renders, so we'll have to wait a few month for those

Which is funny is we have already 7 pages of comment and not a single rendering yet.... my bet is that project will be closely followed.

I probably would have known that if I had read the thread properly instead of just scanning it - sorry .
This is good news though, Architect contests can bring out some brilliant designs. Will all the entries to the competion be public, do you think, or will we only get to see the winning design?

I pray for a "Tour Sans Fins" revival because the design was damn awesome. For the rendering, I don't think we'll have all bids involved. But that's just a personnal opinion.
