Hardly great. The building is good if the city wants to maintain a historical feel

This is great news...congratulations to Paris. Like a lot of people, I'd love to see the Tour Sans Fin revived...it's a good concept and I've yet to see a rendering where it looked awkward or out of place so I don't see why another building of similar height would.

A Tour Sans Fins revival would be fantastic! What a skyline that would be... Can't wait for renders. Congratulations

I am fairly confident it will be a very nice looking design.

Exactly. With a project that'd brings prime exposure to the masses, the architects would want to present their finest, and bound to be a crowd pleaser.
Let's just wait and see and, and we can all debate our fave design in a few months, it'll be here before we know it.

"Good news", "renderings", etc. What are you talking about ? The general manager of EPAD indicated his ambition to build a 400m tower in LD by 2020. At this stage he wants to show the market that LD is business-friendly and ambitious enough to compete with Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, etc. However, it is up to the market - and only up to the market - to "decide" whether this scheme will eventually be built or not; and in particular whether corporates are prepared to pay a premium to let offices for such a scheme in the suburbs of Paris and whether there is some developer to believe it can take a risk-adjusted profit out of it that would be higher than those is would obtain from similar low-rise projects. Another point: 2020 is too far enough for this declaration to be taken seriously. It does not mean a supertall will never be built in LD. I just believe it is premature.

No not the tower for 2020, it's the additional spaces that are planned by 2020.

I think it is understandable that an indication of the possibility of a 400m tower is considered to be good news. an indication alone (there aren't even any renderings) doesn't really make it a real proposal though. I totally understand the excitement of the french and the obvious jealousy of some british commentators (c'mon guys, you would go berserk if it was a london proposal - it wouldn't be out of question if it's going to be built or not).

WOW! This news made my day!
I, as a big fan of Paris, am very happy that new La Defense boom is about to begin!
It's the place where European skyscraper was born. It should kick our asses again.

And honestly, this Paris/London battle that has been going for ages, is only good for both of the cities.
It just brings us spectacular architecture.

I love the older Tour sans fin design, and would love to see that built.
If they put an obs deck at the top of it, maybe within the transparent glass crown, that would be beyond awesome and would be a must-visit for me to see if I ever get the chance to experience Paris. (Ive never even been to that side of the planet yet
Imagine the transparent glass top of the tower lighting up at night! They have a really good chance to turn that tower into a symbol of Paris if built.. Carefully plotted light schemes to make it glow in a spectacular way, and stick out and stay in peoples memories. Kinda like looking at the ESB in NY during the evening and looking at the top where the floodlights are carefully placed, shining on that building.

I think it will make a great impact on the skyline. give it some time, and more towers will rise to fill more space, and as a result, the skyline will be very balanced. I think it would look great to have a 400m plus tower sticking out of the skyline like a sore thumb..

I wish they would build something like that here in Los Angeles! We have the 310 meter library tower (our tallest), but I hold hope that sometime in the future that LA could have an addition of a tower in the 400m range, I just hope it would be aesthetically pleasing like the Tour Sans Fin.
