Burj dubai was also the first building UC in Downtown...so why shouldn't al burj be also one of the first .

i think the fence are to narrow for the al burj to take place so the area is to small but i hope they are going to start cunstrukting now

Of course..the mega-structure will be build...where do you think we are here..in Las Vegas..?? where everything gets porsponned..on technical issue...i'm sick of all the non sense dicussion and debates that take place in Las Vegas...in Dubai there are no restrictions for height....like other countrys do...and the birocracy...is reduced to zero margine

Dubai does have height restrictions as any other city. Airports are Airports everywhere. We got two amaizing towers of 350 meters, one reduced to 200 meters and the other cancelled and replaced by a different 200 meter design, all becouse of the new Airport approaching routes.

like any civilized city...they should move the airport..much more at the outer skirts..of Dubai..

Do you realize how big a 300 by 300 metre plot is?? Even for a building this size, its a quarter of the buildings height.

Because of the Burj Dubai ..constantly changinh height...Al Burj..might be also rescalled back to 1600m..and that would be fantastic for all of us.....

the size of the plot is not the size of the base of the tower. the plot is alway's bigger for building materials, machines and other stuff.

No they woun't change it to 1600m ..but to an unknown height....and BTW..what makes you so shure..??? Don't you see that Burj Dubai's height is unknown....after so many times rescalling the project...

I saw a new diagram of this on skyscraperpage.com looks pretty good. Is it possible to have balconies 800m + ? or would the wind blow residents off?
