thnx sa boy,now some more new info,i met a structural consultant from 'VDM Group' the australian company working on this project today and he told me it was definetely happening and the height is a very closely guarded secret but did mention to me that it will blow every planned "mile tower" competition into the water .

"blowing the Mile Tower away"...not bad! ok i don't think it will be taller than the Mile Tower but probably the design will be 1000 times better

To the naysayers, they said it wasn't possible to build the Burj Dubai, but yet today it's being built with still some 150+m (unconfirmed) to go. Never say never, esp in Dubai.
I had read the last page; it didn't sound any more substantial than the one before it, and much less than any involving new renders.

I have a feeling you are referring to the site below. There was speculation back in July that this would be the site, or very well was the site before Nakheel changed their mind, the Al Burj was destined for. This is going to be the site of the 'Dubai Waterfront', ive added an old render of the area.

That site never was for Al Burj. By the time we were "informed" that it was being built there, Nakheel had already decided to move it out of the waterfront.

so this is in the right place.... 150m isnt that awful deep for soil testing... what did they do on the burj dubai..... could be an early indicator of expected height, well ballpark figure anyway...

150m is quite deep for soil testing I think, piles wont reach more than 60-70 meters deep. At Burj Dubai they are only 50 m deep. Good location.

those photos are old .what i know from the australian company involved with structural works for al burj,it has undergone complete design change along with the height.that figure of 1050m is old and the height has been significantly revised as one official simply put it "blow away any mile tower competiton in the water".exciting times ahead lads
