If this was in America, the designs would have been released a year or to before site prep, anyone of a time line of when the designs will be released, when construction starts and ends?

Where "anywhere in the world" are 1 - 1.6 km tall towers?

I feel the same LeMon. I love the Burj Dubai but Big Al will be the premier building of the world when completed. The possible height of this building would be upwards of 1200m. The 1050m figure is a provisional working height. The final height will be a secret. Big Al will have 228 habitable floors which will be full size right to the top (barring radical changes to the massing of the building). It's observatory will be higher than BD's spire by over 30m. It's roof would be at least 900m or greater. The monster will have over 16 million square feet or 1.5m sq meters in space.

Remember here that Nakheel tried to go for a mile high but later scaled the project to 1200m before going on hiatus with it and now announcing that provisional height. As it stands Al Burj can be 50% taller than the Burj Dubai.

Lotta fun, lotta fun

if they build this monster upwards of over 1000m which is absolutely ridiculous especially in a desert! whats the width on the ground floor to support the astonishing weight of the tall tower, 100m?

I know very well what you mean, but you didn't understood (it seams) what I meant.

There are no megatalls of this scale anywhere so you can't treat it as any other tower.

i dont think it will be as wide as Burj Dubai (93m).
i think it will have a 'same floor plate" design unlike stepped Burj Dubai.
i heard latest is it will be around 800m with 300m spire structure.thus the 1km+ height.

I think it makes sense for them to build it to 1600 meters. I think I remember someone in their company mentioned that if you are going to build the WTB and it is over 800 meters, it should be at least 300 to 400 meter taller than that current WTB. In this case it would Burj Dubai. A good 1600 meters should keep the title ow WTB for years to come. If they have the money, they should build it that tall!

IMO it's not about technology or materials, it's about the floor size, architecture, time to build and money it will cost.
