i made an mistake in my post....it has to be:

"i'm quite sure the short one will be not the final". so this was not a "wild random guess", according to the latest information from sky tower i was right with that

Sky Tower -
Where did you get the number 1462 m? It seems pretty precise for a project that is still a lot of speculation at this point. It would be great if that tower is 1462 m, but damn, that would take at least 10 years to build!

If i am not mistaken, the width of the burg dubai is 92m at its widest. If the image given above by helghast is a correct comparison, (i added another BD on top of the first to see, it looks close), then the width of the al burg will be enormous!

Here is a alteration of the helghast comparison showing the base of the BD in the al burg. I am not sure if the 92m width of the BD is at the very bottom (the base) of the tower or if it is the first section rising from it. If it is the latter, then the al burg will have at least a 2:1 width, possibly close to 2.5:1 where the 'wings' come out on the sides just above the base. That is a width of between 200m and 250m!

Thanks helghast

at the very base the Burj Dubai is 160m i believe ( or was it 150m, not 100% sure ), so a wide of 230m-250m at the base of Al Burj seems very accurate to me.

btw...what are your speculations about the architekt and the number of floors?

Foster,Pelli,SOM,Calatrava, Zaha.....and so on.

i personally have the feeling it is foster or SOM but it's only a feeling

and the number of floors....arround 250 i guess, maybe even more

Uhhh... I hope that it proves not to be a new tower of Babel ! And it gets completed some day ( assuming that it will start construction first )

It's so much better than the old design, and better than the BD IMO too. Looks like something off of Coruscant. Reminds me a bit of that proposal in New York to, 53 West 53rd street.
