I was suspecting the roof to be 2/3 of the full height give me quite a accurate figure of 970m (close to urs)

That skybridge is around 5/6 of the height so is indeed more or less 4000ft...

The top portion (which look like a tower itself) from the highest roof to the peak seem to be as high as ICC, it does give u an idea how friggin monsterous this beast is...

Adrian Smith has not designed this tower, some other American and Australian architects did. The Structural Enginers are LERA & Assoc. (WTC - Twin Towers) and WSP.

These datas were made public long ago.

Looks as if there are not very many windows in it: all grey/brown concrete!

Who posted this image? It was cut from the original render to a new background and copied over a Nakheel logo plus the name and the height. Very cheap work, it cannot be official, especially not from Nakheel.

This render also lacks a major amount of any detail, i am not sure if all early renders do, but it seems that if a render was final there would at least be more to see....

I wait for other renders to come until I judge this design - especially since there's nothing official yet. I'd say from some perspectives this looks interesting, over all it looks a bit like a giant missile/rocket/projectile and it's somehow looking "aggressive". What I am missing is something like an elegant charme but then I can only say this from the few "renders" we got. Anyway I have to say this looks definitely way better than the old design if this is real!

However ... the size of this monster its unbelievable. Not too long ago towers like this were the stuff of science fiction... and now look.

Unbelievable.

A good monster!!!

The desingers struck gold by choosing such futuristic spacescraper wich will be the Sears Tower off the 21st century!!!

Man this buildings design is soo good and i realy like how it looks.

Cheers all off you! This building revived my passion for skyscrapers!!

Im finding myself more and more believing what Sky Tower says about this tower. The rendering of the tower where it shows the glass facade close up, for some reason does not look that tall (I have a pic of the Burj Dubai on my desktop from the base looking straight up and it looks taller). I know its just a render, so I cant judge it by that however the render really doesnt look stretched either.

The way I see it, if they use the shard design and give it a facade like the one illustrated in the up close pic, then this will be a stunning winner.

Don't forget another option: none of these is the actual design.

Its hard to believe the from the main roof, to the very pinnacle of the tower, you basically have the equivalent of the Sears Tower in height difference!!

I wonder how they are going to build this tower? I would expect lots of concrete and steel the whole way up to the top. That last skybridge has got to be near 4000 ft, and I really wonder if they will use it for an obs deck. They will most likely be using a jump form system as well, just heavily modified to attain a greater height. The winds at the height must be pretty substantial, so I would expect the workers to be wearing harnesses even if they are no where near the edge.

They mentioned that the top habitable floors will be in the 850 meter range, but this render look like there is the possibility of the top floors ending up in the 1000 meter range! I wonder what will be used for what looks like the last 450 meters of the structure, or if it will just be for mechanical. I have a feeling that the designers are going to take advantage here and put an awesome obs deck, and restaraunt as high up as they can <-- Looks like all of us here will finally get the EXTREME obs deck we have wanted!!

I wonder if this is going to be 2 towers (or 3) joined togeter like the original design. If Im not mistaking, it looks like a 3 prong shaped tower, and Im wondering if they will still go for the atrium in the center. I can only imagine what an atrium that massive will look like.. Its usually a vertigo inducing event to look down an atrium and Im not too afraid of heights (the Luxor in Vegas was enough for me and thats barely over 300ft), but in this case it can make you pretty sick to look up and literally watch the atrium extend out of sight. There is no way you would be able to see upwards any more than maybe 300 meters up at the most!

I really think that they are going to put cladding on this tower that will look downright incredible! Imagine all the glass that is in the rendering of the tower close up, applied to the full size render where the tower appears as a shard!! Use your imagination everybody, because I can assure you that there is no way they will go to all this trouble in every aspect to built something that has a rather plain looking concrete style facade.

Hey Dettol, slight problem...

I have a decent sized scanner but was going to scan the pages in today and realized it's just not going to happen. I guess you don't realize how big something else can be sometimes without comparisons! Book is almost 7lbs and 500 pages. No way it'll comfortably even fit one page on the scanbed without seriously bending it a lot. Sorry I just realized this now!

I know we got it through our business at Barnes & Noble so not sure what your options are in terms of finding it or anywhere online. Best of luck to you though.
