2. Everything we've heard in the past several months makes it clear that Nakheel has no intention to give this to the Limitless brand.

3. "People who know" say this isn't it.

If you want to believe that Skytower has a job making their websites and yet could come on here and openly admit to leaking this, without anything coming of it, that's fine. But we KNOW that Nakheel has made any leaks of this project a fireing offense, and we know that they keep track of this site. For that matter, if this really were the tower, the architect would not be allowed to put renders up on their site before the launch.

Architect's websites are like the websites of any other people/business which isn't into B2B or on-line activities: They aren't updated regularly and the informations on them are often incomplete or obsolete.

We have been checking architect's websites regularly and often we see there info on visions or projects that were rejected and never went through ... even going through in a redesigned form.

Take Al Sharq tower for example. You think the developer didn't had money to build it and the project is dead, but for SOM and their website it is an active project.

Just my 2Cents to think about.

I hope they will start the contrustion soon and release some renders of the entire project, because i don`t think that Al Burj will be an alone standing building. I think there will be a complex like around the Burj Dubai, because they will loose money with the Al Burj alone.

A aerial picture of the site:

Thank you.

I have a question; how long did it take, approximately, for the BD preparations + piling/foundation to be completed?

I also wonder why they have an enclosed area in the upper left of the photograph. Furthermore did not Imre find a huge enclosed area in the Waterfront area first believed to be Al Burj? Is that another project then? What if there will be two structure of this size, one in the waterfront area and one here.

Other than that, thinking about all the development that are going to be happening in the comming years to come is just mind boggling, it really pushes ones imagination . There are still some towers that have not even started to rise from what i see in the JLT, and more so in the marina. Plus media city, and the WTC are next to SZR, DIFC, more towers on the extended skyscraperstrip on SZR, deira, BB.... and so much more,

If this is true ... this is really great and crazy news i just want to say. It will very close in the race to built the tallest craper! I just have heart that the "mile tower" is drammaticly scaled down with 500m! (to +/- 1050m).

see at the link: http://www.meed.com/news/2008/05/mil..._up_short.html

This tower could be easy the biggest in the world!

That rebar is for the slurry wall not for piling.

quite amazing news. thanks altin and malec. and king for aerial.
i guess this stage of construction will take anything up to 6-12 months.
i had a feeling the jeddah mile high will fail. just silly. 1km sounds more realistic.

i wonder if this is still the proposal?
