Why is this thread not close until we have oficial information (render and data), or at least they start real digging?

Because, if close, we would be left without informations. Better to change of prep to app

It looks better than on the first renders. But... I dunno. It should be more futuristic, somewhat. You'd expect a striking design of the highest tower ever to be build by mankind.

Somethin' like this:

Star Wars footage

(taken from the Wookiepedia)

(From the German movie Metropolis, 1927)

Or how about that one? That's already heading in the right direction:

You get the idea

don't discuss vertical city here.

But the suspected al burj render is sorter than we expected and the height at 1140 metres is very much like 10 metres shorter than the new probable mile high tower design. I really hope the tall tower gets announced at 1400 metres which will be like 2 times taller than burj dubai now.

Dear valued business partner,

Nakheel invites you to be the first to hear our grand announcement and see how Islamic elements are inspiring Dubai’s future. We would also like to welcome you to join us at Cityscape Dubai 2008 on October 6th, and find out how principles such as unity and balance are going to show us a new way forward.

A world-leading developer of iconic communities, Nakheel is at the forefront of life-improving yet responsible development, and is proud to be participating in Cityscape Dubai for its seventh year in a row.

We hope to see you there as Nakheel puts tradition at the centre of modernity, and look forward to seeing you again in future editions of Cityscape Dubai.

Kind regards,
Nakheel

I dunno, the quality of the render seems much too low quality for nakheel, especially with their latest renderings being amazing. Looks more like something from al saffarini or something. I doubt it's real and will not trust it until it comes from nakheel. I could probably make a render as good if not better than that.

With a building of that height you probably only have a narrow range of design possibilities, seeing that it would really push the limits of today's technology.

So the primary concern of the architects is probably the safety and not the looks.

^ Widely true. But then again, why not have a more striking top? A wide and more spectacular base? It's not like the shown design features would be that limited.

I agree with Malec. This doesn't look legitimate at all. This is just the same game we have been played in the past.

Remembers me of the the design from the mile tower. I think sooner or later we will get some offcial renders. And i think after finishing the Burj Dubai thats what they waiting for.

By the way awsome design and even more to build it!
