weird that, I've been meaning to ask about Skyhouse in one of these threads these past few days but kept forgetting. I hope the new design will be as good as the old one

I do not remember whether it has been mentioned: Planning application for the two towers at Vauxhall Cross have been submitted on 9 January 2006. Planning consent is anticipated in 2006.

From http://www.squireandpartners.com/introframe.php
VAUXHALL CROSS
London SW8

This scheme for London & Regional's 0.95 acre site at Vauxhall Cross proposes a new public square between two elegant buildings - one of 46 storeys and the other 23 storeys. The lower building has a private roof garden open to residents.

The scheme incorporates a mix of different - but complementary - uses designed to bring new life to this part of Vauxhall. Set within a landscaped public square, the scheme will include housing, leisure and retail uses, together with community facilities such as a health centre and crèche. These units will spill out onto a new public space, where London & Regional is proposing to create an 'urban forest' under a feature curved transparent roof. Residents, local people and visitors will be able to enjoy this public space at both ground and mezzanine levels.

A cornerstone of the scheme is its environmental credentials - the scheme achieves "Excellent" ratings under the BREEAM and EcoHomes initiatives and includes a BioFuel heating system, solar panels, rain water recycling and a 650 space public cycle locker and shower facility. The aim of the scheme is to regenerate the site to create a greater sense of place and openness, while at the same time increasing safety, enjoyment and accessibility.

I think it's fantastic that they are taking the environmental criteria so seriously. Urban forest though! Come on it can only be about 5 trees!

Funny isn't it, literally every couple of months since 2001 we've been getting a new skyscraper proposed (in this case, two!).

I wonder what we can expect to see later this year. A residential 600-footer in the Docklands, perhaps? Or a 500ft hotel in Shoreditch? Or maybe a 700ft office tower to join Suffolk House in Croydon? Who knows...?
